I also value the vintage stuff (okay, mostly vintage outdoors stuff because I grew up going to places like Ski Hut, Sierra Designs, Western Mountaineering, Marmot, The North Face, Antelope, etc.), and I think the stuff is a wonderful look at a bygone era.
But that doesn't make the stuff art. For the most part, clothing is designed by one person, and produced by another (or perhaps many other) person(s). Clothing is to art what a faithful giclee reproduction of a painting is. It's a copy of the original. It's nice to own, and nice to look at, and has value; but it's not an original piece of art.
The value for me in clothing lies in its functionality. If something isn't made to last, it's not worth owning (this is why I don't care much for Arc'teryx). I value the ethos of certain companies (such as Patagonia) over those of other companies. But yeah, anyway.... What do the rest of you think about while you're running six miles in a light rain?
How are our experiences the exact opposite?
I think he meant your experiences in selling BB stuffs.
Heresy! Burn them with fire!
Jeebuz... The last thing that clip makes me want to do is run out and buy rag & bone clothing.
I haven't listed a BB suit in forever...they used to take a week or two until someone came along and wanted to spend $200+ on a used suit. I've just been lazy, listing sweaters and jeans and stuff that's easy to photo, measure & describe. And low-hanging fruit for quick flips. I need to suck it up tho and start listing suits again. I'm buried in BB, Oxxford, PRL and whatever else. God I hate that part of all this.
so ive exhausted most the stores i can locate down here in south florida anyone know of some they wouldnt mind sharing?
Here's some Barbor pr0n for the fans.
Barbour Steve McQueen
Beacon Brand by Barbour chambray -I finally found a chambray that fits properly!!
What do you call this sort of jacket? I assume it's a moto inspired thing since it's from the Barbour International line
Came up completely dry today except for these. Picked them up primarily due to nostalgia, and a stupid low price. I have no idea what to call them. I mean, it's like a blucher and penny loafer baby. Moccasins just doesn't ring true. Any ll bean aficionados here that can help clue me in? 8.5D and available btw. Edited to add, that that's a double thick leather sole.
Seriously. I hate the measuring part!
Thanks, totally forgot i had seen this flick
