Can you predict how long this leather run will last? I'm trying to line up my purchases for the fall and I need a quality leather jacket in my life, but perhaps not as much as I might need some other non-clothing related items.

I'm thinking I will keep them up til about Christmas time even after, but there might be intermittent 1-2 week breaks here and there (for example I have enough two-way black taped zippers to make about 10 more jackets and then I will need to re-order custom zippers) so it's a supply-end thing sometimes.

I still haven't costed my originals because my first order isn't done and shipped yet, thy're still in the shop, so I have no idea what my shipping price schedule or stuff will be; I have said I will have to raise the price once I know my costs better and that is probably gonna happen, especially for the custom run of colored zippers I have to make. There are discrepancies, for example, between the cost of lamb vs calf, sizes (a tiny 44 uses a lot less leather than a 54) and weight, the lamb will be 1.5kg all packed on average, whereas a calf could be up to 3kg, about $20 more to ship possibly, so I will get a more detailed pricing schedule out eventually. For now, they're still 475 for black or brown Bombers or 495 for black lamb or calf Motos and Double Riders, but get them while I still haven't figured out my costing... :p

Sounds good dude. BTW I think I have pinkeye, one of the tearducts on my eye has been swollen and red for a couple days and hurts like hell. I think I might not go out this weekend. :/

Buy the heavy ass cowhide. It'll probably outlive you. Even the lambskin would last plenty as long as you don't treat it like shit rolling around on concrete or pete rose style diving head first everywhere. I'm sure like most clothing items that people will either lose/gain weight, get tired of an item, or need money for other purchases where they'll get rid of the coat for other reasons rather than it fall apart (even my h&m stuff hasn't "fallen apart" on me).

LIke Chrono said, that cowhide is definitely going to become an heirloom. I handled the shit, it's quality. I'm picky about that stuff. If you go lamb, it can possibly last a very long time, but I doubt it lasting you life. It will age easily, but this is both a good and bad thing. You go lamb if you want a luxurious and soft feel compared to the sort of stiff cowhide. With the cowhide, treat it like an alcoholic beats his wife because unlike the wife it'll look better with a beating.

That sucks, not much to do but wait it out. I guess let me know Saturday night what's up. Otherwise we can meet up on the long weekend coming up. I can't stay at my gf's house this Sunday night anyways so it might be for the better.

Are there any pictures you can post of a leather jacket (any would be fine, though I'm thinking about buying the moto or rider) using the washed calf? Pretty sure you posted photos of the washed calf samples, but I haven't seen the finished product using it. Sorry if it's already been posted.

Soju is pretty good, though I've mainly tried the mixed ones... like yogurt soju haha it's pretty weird but tasty

Beer + soju boilermakers are not so much a night cap as they are a sledgehammer to the brain, not a good idea. Soju is not a good path for me to take, I even drank a bottle of Iichiko Frasco recently, one of the better Japanese shochus out there (I think it is like $75/500mL or something; at bars that have it here it's like $250 for the 500mL and a bottle of run of the mill Korean soju is $3 when out), and it just got me drunk and acting nasty like any other soju will do.

I haven't made anything from washed calf; that Double Rider's in the black moto calf I probably can't wash. It comes in full sides (of the cow) which weigh about 8-10 pounds a piece and are 6'+ long by 3'+ wide, so I can't fit it in my washing machine for my secret wash [IMG] I might be able to do garment washing but no guarantees. For now, washed leathers will be limited to lambskins as that is what I can do.

I just ordered a bomber and I can't wait till it gets here. I ordered it without epaulets and lengthened the body by 2". I've always loved bombers but felt that they were too short so this should look really cool.

I just received my varsity/MA-1. I love it! It definitely exceeded my expectations for the price. The gore-tex fabric is really nice and soft and feels like good quality leather on the varsity side. The fit is perfect. I will post some pictures later on if people want them. Shipping was very fast, took only two days to get to me in Australia. Thanks a lot D! Everyone needs to cop toj stuff.

Colored leathers should be available very soon. I found my source for ordering more made in Japan YKK's to custom specs (ie colored taping, custom tooth color, my choice of pull, size) so the grey (medium gray, as a nice alternative to my washed black lamb) that people have been asking for will be first out of the gate along with either one color, red or blue, as custom orders for zippers are 100-piece minimums (each the same thing, meaning I need to order 300 zippers for one color of jacket) so that'll entail some big bucks, these things aren't cheap.

actually got to handle the grey sample last night...really nice and i think will be a great alternative to a standard black...plus probably easier to incorporate and seasonally friendly.

That's basically what I'm having done. He can't do a high collar like that though, it's going to be a varsity collar. But I'm not getting any extra pockets. I'm getting no epaulets and I'm having the body lengthened.

That sounds good, I ama ctually looking for a similar jacket Daniel Craig wore in Casino Royale, it looks similar to the TOJ bomber jacket but with chest pockets and ribbed collar but the sleeves and bottoms aren't ribbed. I prefer the ribbed part of the TOJ bomber to be incorporated to it though. It's hard to explain but pretty much the TOJ bomber jacket with ribbed collar and pockets like this:
    [IMG][IMG]

It seems like a lot to ask and the collar is different from the TOJ varsity, it is more like a ribbed funnel collar but that would practically be the perfect brown leather jacket for me.
