Style? I think it was actually motivated by self preservation as I needed some ass kicking boots after first getting picked on for sporting suede/calf saddle shoes with those pinkish red crepe soles.

It really depends on what you have available to you. If you already have a polish which matched the colour of your shoes, then use that. If you haven't, and your shoes desperately need cleaning, neutral won't hurt at all.

Saphir as a "cordovan" colored wax that is reddish. Also they have a "Mahogony" cream, which has an amazing color. My friend uses it on a pair of dark brown boots and they look fantastic now.

Yeah, I saw that mahogony cream, but I was afraid it would be TOO reddish.

Neutral also works well on patinated or antiqued finishes (if you don't want to mess the finish up

yeah but once you start to get into those 'not-so-black' blacks like Deco, Berluti with some sort of under layer of colors.... etc... then simple black polishes won't do I suppose.....

Pardon my noob question... Can be polishing cloth be wash/clean after each usage?

You need to wash it, only when it is completely spotted up. Also, don't waste your money on those polishing rags. Use old undershirts.

+1 for cutting up old undershirts. Sometimes that's the only way I'll ever get rid of the old things!
