Was also surprised; however, Spoo does cycle through shoes pretty quickly.

I have to say I still wear my DC Lewis bal boots regularly and the soles do hold up really well. The quality is superb.

Spoo's short attention span is my gain! The soles have very little wear and any minor scuffs brushed right out.
He cut me a great deal too! :)

Their great. I was super jelly when I didn't see my size during the sample sale.

You guys enjoy your dc Lewis shell, now

Thanks to everyone who offered their advice. It appears that it was just a matter of giving it more time with those shoes I was polishing. This is the result so far:

The finish is taking on an almost three dimensional look. I think this is not a bad shine but not yet a true mirror - I can see my reflection quite well but not clearly enough so I will press on. I can't wait to see how this will turn out.

    Thanks again, all!

Gerry: They look absolutely stunning. Personally, I would stop the shining here, but the beauty of shoe shining is that it's a personal choice how the shoes end up.
OJ: I remember those; Spoo's quest for sleek shell cordovan bals. They are so badass that I can't wait to have a pair like them made. One day!

Thanks, cbfn. Ordinarily, I'd stop there but I want to see if I can achieve results like crat's or lear's.

Gerry, I would now put the shoes on and walk around the house as you would normally do. I don't mean flex them every which way like a piece of rubber. Just a gentle walk around the house with them on, laces tied etc. If all is okay, then continue as you like.

If you deposit the entire amount of wax in one sitting, or just lay it on too thick... you might experience cracking.

Edit: This is especially true if the shoes are new, without crease lines set in place. I see that yours have cap toes, so probably a little safer.

    Don't blame the messenger :hide:

    Lovely!

    Well done; you're getting there.
Now do as Lear says : )

Are you going to mirror shine the entire toe cap or just it's tip?

"Lovely" was directed to your shoes OzzyJones

    Gerry, Ias just curious.
Personally I like a mirror shine do decrease gradually towards the laces so that there isn't an apparent line where it stops. Opinions on this differ though.
