Poast a pic! Perhaps we can convince you to keep them.

    Am I being overly sensitive?

I'm about to return them and get another pair, as they're RTW, so should be fine. :)

I'd keep them, will polish right out. To me not worth the hassle of a return. A scuff like that could happen the first day you wear them anyway.

If you do return them make sure they have a replacement in your size in stock first. Wouldn't want to end up accepting a substitution.

    Beautiful shoes, by the way.

GDOT right, you could get that the first time you wear them. However I personally woud rather put my own scars on my stuff and not someone else. It's not major but I'd make sure they have a replacement waiting in the wings and then I would return them.

I can respect this. Especially when one has purchased something pricey like a pair of Lobbs.

For me it's sort of a 'relief' that they are not perfect. That way I don't have to worry too much about it when I do put a little ding on a pair.

    To each their own!

I can see your point as well. So really it just depends on what the person who purchased them wishes to do.

Is there an alternative to using a Deer bone on your shoes ??

I often read that a spoon is a good alternative.

If they do have a replacement pair in your size and it wont take an exorbitant amount of time to replace them, I'd exchange. That said, that scuff is very easy to fix so if I were "stuck" with them, I wouldn't lose much sleep over it. That museum finish is really stunning. Enjoy them, and post some more pics if you get a chance.

Alden Leather Defender for shell shoes & boots...yay or nay?

I've never had problems with the dreaded water spots/welts on my AE shell shoes. I recently picked up the J. Crew Alden Captoe boot in color 8 and am considering the Leather Defender product. I'd guess that a thin coat of wax polish would provide adequate protection against water but I only applied wax to the toe, not the entire upper.

    Thoughts?

Good excuse to post a pic of my recent shine job :)
