I also rub down between various products. I learned that from watching Japanese shoe polishing videos
For example:
Bick 4 or renovateur
buff with brush
lightly rub with chamois
polish
buff with brush
lightly rub with chamois
wax
buff with brush
you could at this point use the nylon trick but I have yet to try it.
Yes. Brush or buff after every layer.

I swear by the nylon stocking trick for the final buff.

Does it has to be wax? What about blue cream?
The cream will do the same.

I find the blue wax works just great. I think because wax is higher shine the effect is even more pronounced.

Yes I read the blog post after I wrote my question.
I bought a MDO cream for that purpose, but I’m regisent to put it on brown or reddish shoes.

I mean, I'm going to try the blue wax to see how it goes.

If you're going to do the cream, do it very sparingly. Real small dabs.

Yes, I’ll see. My original intension was for black shoes, and it does not have a big impact in my limited experience, but on bourgundy? Idk. Is the idea just for Highlights on the toe cap and heel or for the whole shoe?

The idea is whole shoe.

I'm going to try it, as I'm feeling adventurous.

The black shoes have zero problem. The effect is amazing. The shoes don't become blue, as black won't change colour, but they become ink black from it. It's fabulous.

I'll do it this week and post before/after pics.

If you don't have a woman's stocking to hand, a lightweight micro fibre cloth is good for a final polish. So is a goat hair brush. Yours, M.

Goat hair brushes are nice, but I find them better for maintenance after coming home.
