1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Attention desert wanderers, long-haired hippies, pastoral romantics, new brohemians, riviera flâneurs and anyone else who just likes to feel the air between their toes: this is the official sw&d sandal thread. Discuss and post pictures of good looking sandals here. Shopping options, how to wear them, sizing, etc. Baller level not required, just sandals with style. All variants of the sandal welcome: fisherman, paduka, Roman, clog, espadrille, etc.

I realize sandals might not be everyone's thing, but dammit I like them. Naysayers can continue to wear their sweaty designer sneakers and heavy boots in August. Being from a beach town, I have a bias towards zori and huarache designs, basically surfer styles. But, I've come to appreciate other styles as well, especially those that can pair with more than just pure casual clothes or work in a more urban environment. There are a lot of cool designer versions and a lot of fugly ones. Anyway here are a few pics to start things off (or maybe end it altogether depending on your point of view.)

I really want a pair of sandals, mostly because that Ann suit I found on ebay doesn't really go with anything else (10.5" leg opening), but I have a mental block on actually spending any money on a pair [IMG].

Zara had some sandals that looked pretty good on the mannequin, and I think they're priced ~60?

The problem with stuff like that is I buy it because it's cheap and then only wear it a few times. I think I've wasted way more money buying H&M than I have designer stuff; I just end up reverting back to the few nice items I own. There's totally some exceptions, I wear my uniqlo oxfords like twice a week.

I'll probably just wait til later in the season or next year; I'm pretty okay with letting the Ann hang in my closet since I didn't own another suit and will probably need one and it was cheap even by Macy's standards [IMG]. Also the jacket looks cool on its own.

At least Uniqlo oxfords fit you without massive tailoring. What happened to Japanese slim fit :(

CPs wogbog posted are pretty rad, and the simpler Ann D ones are nice. Can't understand the appeal of those with all the laces, ankle straps that cover as much of your foot as high tops, and then just leave your toes exposed. Seems like a recipe for sweat
