I'm guessing it's too late now...order already placed.
And I asked twice if I really had to pay $15 shipping for a 5 ounce package traveling 2 hours north...he said yes.

Great shirt. I picked that up in the GIS sale. It pairs well with the deadstock cotton work pants that are on sale now.

I have to second what Dave_SFU said about in store sales. Robert definitely got me better prices.

I picked up the Gambler and the Felted Wool Print jacket

I will try to focus on Christmas gifts for others now, unless there are deeper discounts :nodding:

Maybe I'm overstepping...but who's Robert? I gotta get to know this guy!
My one and only purchase from an actual store was not good at all

Captainshields, with all due respect you want to get free shipping on 1 clearance belt that you purchased?

The people here who claim to get free shipping either are preferred customers of the SA, or spend a lot more money than just buying 1 accessory.

Nothing is "free", RL has to pay to ship each item, in many instances they can see that keeping a customer who buys a lot of merchandise happy, free shipping is just a minor expense and gets deducted from their profits, not the SAs commissions, in your case you bought 1 accessory and that just doesn't warrant free shipping. Deal with it.

Hardly worth saying your experience "was not good at all" because you didn't get a perverse free shipping entitlement..

I have done som reading in the already existing threads and get that it's bit of a confusion about sizing for the RRL jeans. I am in the progress of ordering a pair but have no idea what size to order. Have mailed rl customer service and asked for measurements for the slim fit jeans cuz that is what I am interested in. I usually wear 31/32 in slim fitting jeans, for example APC New Standard.

    Thank you!

    Woah...

My only experience is buying from the website, which has always had free shipping anytime I've bought something.
Living 2 hours from the store and paying $15 ground shipping on a $130 item (that could fit in an envelope) just rubbed me the wrong way. Not putting down RRL or it's preferred customers or anything, but as sad as it sounds...$15 is money that I could really use (I know i know...shouldn't be buying rrl in the first place then haha).

It costs about $2 to send something that size first class, that far (I do it all the time). I would have been fine paying that $2. Not sure why they need to charge $13 for "handling". That's why I got upset. That's why my experience buying from the store was not good compared to other RRL purchase.

And I could use the same logic...they give free shipping to "preferred" customers as a nod for their business...why is it wrong for me to expect free shipping to keep me around, and possibly eventually become one of those big spenders?

Sorry for the rant, just wanted to cleat that up. Wasn't looking for "entitlement".

Not trying to nit pick here but RRL ships with FedEx. A 1 lb package (the minimum weight it could be) starts at $8 to go from NYC to Albany via FedEx Ground.

Wasn't told that...That does make more sense.
Every order I've gotten from RRL/RL online was shipped usps. That's why I assumed they would ship usps
Like I said...new to buying direct from the store (and RRL in general really). Just threw me off a little. Obviously not the end of the world...it was my fault for not pulling the trigger earlier on the website. Easy, cheap, $15 lesson.

Ideally I'd like to just get down to the store/stores in person in the near future...on my to do list!

yeah ive never actually thought to ask. ive purchased direct from stores from a few diff associates at least a dozen times and from Robert specifically at least 4-5 times now. more than half ,(probably 75%+, of those times iw as charged shipping ... didnt bother me since i typically go through an SA because the item i want is sold out online in my size or they gave me a heads up before it went online or on sale

if you want to save on shipping and your item is online buy it online. but most of us are looking for harder to find items or the item we want is gone so we have to go the SA route AND we like to help robert (dastig) out

Every package ive ever gotten from either an RRL store (and ive gotten things from every store) or the RL website has come via FedEx. I wish it was USPS or UPS since my FedEx guy wont leave things when im not home
