Whilst in the store I was told AW12 would be hitting soon (in a week or two).

Whats the general feeling of the Cotton-Nylon Flight Jacket (at $450.00)?

I was in NY last week and got a look at the FW12 RRL catalog and I have to say it was kind of.... Ehhh....and I had such high hopes because I love fall/winter clothes

Lots of naval stuff once again (how many years in a row is that!) and the western ski resort theme was too generic. No must-have's in any of it for me. Lots and lots of carryovers or staples. Hopefully the Ltd Edition stuff, which wasn't in the catalog, is a lot better and more unique.

anyone else see something I was missing? can't believe they didn't pick up on the Gatsby movie release in their themes - would have been such a slam dunk for RRL styling

I'm the same way... winter is where it's at. And yeah, the whole sailor things is getting so VERY tired. Whats the western ski resort theme? You able to post any pics from the catalog?

I wasn't allowed to take any pics, unfortunately

most stores should have the catalogs coming in soon, so ask your SA for a look. amd I'd like to hear what others think

one good theme is the British motocycle theme with a few good pieces, but nothing that Belstaff or the like hasn't done for 10 yrs now

I like the naval/nautical stuff. Windships, Kon Tiki, Shipyard, Merchant Marine are some of my favorite collections.

I've reliable been informed by the team in Mount Street that the fall collections are:
    Sun Valley - American Hunting
Isle of Man - 1920's TT Racing collection
Royal Navy - 1930 and 40's's British and US navy

^ yup, those are the ones

see what you think when you see the individual pieces in the catalog

the main line RL is focusing on Downton Abbey and the early 1900's and I'm shocked that they didn't carry that over to RRL, or again, do a Gatsby line to coincide with the new movie release

if I were them, I'd consider some of these possible themes for the future:

    San Francisco Barbary Coast period
    Prohibition (1920's)
    Golden Age of Hollywood
    Kentucky Derby
    The Jazz Age
    New York Bohemia
    Route 66
    Newport Regatta / America's Cup
    The Old South
    National Parks
    The 50's
    California surf culture
    Jackson Hole Ranch
    Vintage Boston / Beacon Hill
    1900 Immigrant
    The Hamptons
    Adirondack Summer
    etc
