Has anybody seen, tried on or currently own either of these vests?
    Thoughts? Impressions?
Generally how do the vests run?

I saw the blue striped one in person and its absolutely beautiful. I can't speak much about the size except that I would call a RRL retail store and request measurements. I'm sure that they'd help.

I like the indigo striped one as well but it would be harder to match than the grey jaspe one.

    Anyone noticed this?

Many of new RRL workshirts retail price went up by $10.

Now many of them are $195.

And all of sudden, sales items are all unavailable.

Maybe they finally got rid of the sale stuff and sent it all to outlets. If that's the case we should already start seeing some of it pop up by this Friday.

I've been getting emails saying the sale was ending soon, and then one last night saying today was the last day. I guess they were serious!

I think the expedition twill should show up at outlets. But they had it down to 60% or so off, so I'll bet ebayers will be pricing it high.

It's about making a profit. The line was losing money for years, now they are expanding worldwide. And still maintain a heavy focus on quality and details. What I don't think is greatly appreciated is the amount of hand work that goes into these pieces. Producing RRL is very, very labor intensive. A ten dollar bump is just the beginning.. I can see shirts listing for $ 350+ in the future.

i imagine they're realizing the people waiting for sales and the aftermarket/outlet crowd are a majority of their customer base so they're just gonna raise prices so that when it goes on sale, the price won't go as low.

...or maybe they're saving up for a new webmaster.

RRL will keep increasing prices by about 5-10% a year to cover inflation and slowly raise profits. The majority of their customer base comes from their B&M stores who are willing to pay retail and those who wait for sales usually miss out on items they want. Outlet crowd only makes up a small percentage, hence the reason RRL items sit at outlets for weeks if resellers don't come along and buy it all up.

You won't see $350 prices for an RRL shirt unless the dollar crumbles because at those prices you can find much more exclusive niche labels that are made in the USA, Europe or Japan of much higher quality fabrics. RRL is becoming a ubiquitous mass produced line predominately made in china that relies on economy of scale to stay in operations much like Polo. Over inflating MSRPs then putting everything on deep discount then sending it to various outlets will only backfire on them in the long run as they become more recognized. I don't know who actually pays $2800 for a purple label cashmere sweaters when I see marshalls putting them out every 2 weeks for $199.

Most RRL shirts are not labor intensive and offer nothing more than recycled colorway changes and tweaked plaids and checks. The jeans are labor intensive and expensive to produce, which is why they sell most of them before they go on sale and their raw jeans are usually excluded from sales altogether.

RL covered this in its 3rd quarter statement to the stock market. it's due to a rise of cotton costs by 150% since 2010.
