I received exactly the same "letter" the other day. I was gobsmacked to be honest - I knew PayPal sucked hard but I didn't realise quite how much. The idea that they can just hold money for 21 days makes me sick. Fuckers.

^They did that to me years ago. Never had any issues eventually getting the money, but it was a bit...unsettling.

I received the same deal, but it said it was until I "establish a positive sales history with Ebay", so I thought it was some lame form of standard operating procedure. I do only have 7 or 8 sales under my belt, by they didn't implement this until about 10 days ago.

I don't know, it's just weird they'd do that to me.
I mean, I only ever have like $100 in there from selling.

I think that group buy I set up alarmed them.
Man, receiving $50 in a day is suspicious huh?

Well, it's good to hear it eventually works out.
I'm definitely trying out Amazon though.

The Olive hues aren't too strong are they? Did you snap a pic outdoors in shade?

PS: The pooch is keenly eyeing them pants...like he wants some.

thats why i have a BIN and also open to best offers ;)
sometimes people (mostly overseas, alot of Russians and Spanish) bite on the BIN, but usually i get offers way less and sell them still. trust me i dont expect to get the BIN

I bought something on ebay today and the seller got the same letter and now refuses to ship due to the funds being frozen. So this is screwing buyers as much as sellers.

this is nothing new and they do it to casual sellers or people with low DSR/low FB scores or history of disputes. Amazon has been doing it for years on high ticket/restricted items.

This is another strike for ebay trying to take out the small business owners/ mom and pop hobby sellers in favor of being more like rakuten or amazon.

this is why I always just mark it as being for a good/service and use a credit card. If the seller is desperate to avoid the fees, I will add the 3% or whatever to my payment but a high volume seller should just be factoring that into their prices.

Marking it as a purchase gives you buyer protection and using a CC gives you another layer of protection. Paypal is providing a service after all...doesn't seem unreasonable that they should be paid for it.

Doesn't seem strange to me at all that you would have to jump through hoops to do this...since what you are doing is explicitly against the rules.

Isn't there some gray area with proxying in the context of an online community, though (which this is)?

In any case, for practical purposes, I agree it's probably easier to just mark as goods, and so add in the fees.

    Hey RandomKoreanDude,

Those are some awesome trousers, I've been looking to purchase some more wool pants for this winter season and your fit pics might've convinced me of where to buy from. Mind if I ask you a few questions though? Whats the fit like? I own a pair of Low Straight jeans and some Slim Boot Cords, but nothing from the Officer cut, anyway to compare it to either of those two? Also do you think you could dress them down to wear more casually? Thanks again, and wow, fantastic purchase/outfit/fit man!
