If that is indeed the case, I'm okay with the mystery/magic of it. Keeps this group an open forum to talk about the good at the bad. We have a collector's group on Facebook for "JMM" and it's almost shunned to talk about issues or point out defects in their manufacturing of sunglasses. People get kicked out and treated like dirt as a result. Petty of the Administrator to do such things, but they are blinded by their fanaticism to the brand.
Yeah, it would definitely change the dynamic if there were a participating RL employee on here.

thoughts on the vintage 5 pocket fit? just purchased the east/west version and wondering if they are really like a giant wide leg fit or just a more comfortable straight. the product measurements on the web seem pretty big- maybe i could’ve sized down one? curious what people think about these.

They don’t fit big at all. Closest point of comparison would probably be older 501s. Huge missed opportunity for a proper wide straight leg fit imo.

I thought vintage 5 pocket is wider than original 501, like isn’t straight more like original 501?

501 naming convention is just confusing to me, honestly I don’t even know which original I’m referring to…

I think not the 1947 or the slim taper but the current “original” which in my size is like 8in leg opening?

My 1947 LVC (32x34 STF down to about 30x32) measures around 8" leg opening. My olive green vintage 5 pocket bucklebacks (30x30) measure about 8.5". Seems like V5P is definitely wider than I thought, but I still think they could be wider, like a 9" opening even.

V5P varies from pair to pair. I just measured 4 pairs of mine, all 36/32. Two were 9 1/4, one 9 1/2 and one almost 10. My one pair of LVC STF 501 were 9.

wow nice thanks. i have a bunch of 90’s 501 stf that are probably 8.5-9” hem. i found the v5p in a 36x30 and prob won’t mind going a little wider at the hem. thanks for measuring!

Hello gentlemen!

Been reading this forum for a long time on and off, registered recently and this is my first post in hope to get sone advice.

I’ve been a fan of RRL Japanese selvedge jeans for a long time, slim bootcut and slim narrow fitting me the best. Lately I’m experiencing a “cowboy phase”, buying western shirts, boots and belts.

I’ve been drooling over this belt for a while and finally got it.

https://www.ralphlauren.com/men-accessories-belts/studded-leather-belt/0078070794.html

The issue is, the way this buckle with a little hook is designed it doesn't seat parallel to my waist but rather at an angle. Unlike the pinned buckles like this one for example:

My OCD isn’t completely happy with it. I’ve already packaged it to send back and get maybe the one above instead, but wanted to ask here. Am I missing something? Is there a special trick to wear it correctly or some small modification? I love the belt otherwise.

Thank you for your thoughts.
Cheers!
