I'll take a stab:
- I think it has to do with the long rise and relaxed vintage cut, which I take is somewhat extraordinary.
- The denim seems also different than usual, it seems to have some lighter specks infused in it somewhat like a Donegal cloth.
- The leather patch is also non-standard, but tbh I prefer the regular one over the special edition one.

I overall like this model, but don't think the asking price is merited.

DETAILS
  • Vintage 5-Pocket Fit: the most relaxed silhouette, with the longest rise and a straight leg.
  • Size 32W has a 10.25" rise and an 18.25" leg opening.
  • Hand-set, chain-stitched waistband with inserted belt loops for added durability. Button fly with our signature buttoned closure ensures a consistent fit through years of wear.
  • American-made buttons, copper-tone rivets, and washer burrs. Five-pocket styling. “RRL” embroidery at the selvedge coin pocket. Heavy twill pocket lining.
  • Leather “Double RL & Co.”–debossed logo label at the back right waist.
  • Cotton. Machine washable. For best results, wear 90 days without washing. Made in USA of imported components.
  • By choosing our cotton products, you’re supporting our investment in the Better Cotton™ mission to help cotton communities survive and thrive, while protecting and restoring the environment.
  • This product is sourced via a system of mass balance and therefore may not contain Better Cotton™. Visit bettercotton.org/massbalance for more information about mass balance.
  • Dyed with true indigo, which may rub off onto fabrics, leather, and upholstery.
  • Style Number: 100041710

The rise and leg opening are standard for the vintage fit. But yeah, the denim looks slightly different and it has the waist overalls back patch with the mysterious R235. Other than that they look like an east/west vintage fir pair. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, you're probably right, it's not that much different to an east/west vintage pair.
Probably more a marketing thing than anything else.

Inside pocket says slim fit Japan selvedge and it has a suede leather patch. Got em from Huckberry recently.
I've now seen three or four of you guys here photographed in western boots and slim fits. I can't get that to work because the pant leg barely fits over the shaft of the boot. Every time I stand up after sitting, I have to reach down and pull the pant leg back down over the boot. I was thinking maybe it's because I'm a small size (28 or 29), but I would think my boots would be proportionately smaller too. Do some of you other guys have this issue?

These are 32x32 over a size 9 and are fine. Probably could’ve gone 32x34. You might be right depending on your boot size. Can always try those Velcro snake straps to wrap the shaft a little tighter

It looks amazing, seriously. I have another shacket from there from a couple of years ago. It looks great and it's incredibly warm.
At first I thought it kinda looked like baby poo but I kept coming back to it. It’s weirdly interesting to me and I was inspired like Ralph at the K-Market so I waited til it went on sale lmao. Also scored a bottle of Kirkland Islay single malt…Bonus!

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
