Count me in the Tag Keeper camp, been doing it for years:

I keep A LOT of sketchbooks so Ive recently been putting em on that. This one here is my Moleskine daily planner, so it only gets the Polo tags haha but the sketchbooks will get the nicer ones:

Aside that, I don't know why I keep em either. Maybe it's the collector in us or they are just really nice/well done.

Curious how much you end up paying for shipping/fees/taxes/customs to NL.

I collect physical media and almost everything I collect is released by American labels and studios, so I can't collect unless I import. I never order directly, but have everything delivered at my US locker in New Hampshire, which is a tax free state. Another benefit is that I usually get free shipping within the US + I don't have to pay import related charges (like standard handling fee per package) for every package. I am mentioning this because these STAG orders are just part of a "routine" that has some fixed costs.

The freight forwarder will keep my packages for up to 60 days. So once every 8 weeks or so, I'll have them consolidate everything into a single package and forwarded to my home address – they will remove excessive packaging material, invoices, etc... which is nice :) .

If I order something at 30% off, I think, after all expenses, it ends up being net 20-25% off, which is good enough for me.

These sweaters will probably be 30% off at some point on the Dutch Ralph Lauren website, but I don't want to wait for that. And they may sell out in my size by the time the sale arrives – this season seems a bit slow when it comes to RRL sales ...

Any experience with this one? It looks a little scratchy / oversized - neither of which I want.

It's a pretty cool shirt that takes a little bit of wearing in. I think it's more of an over-shirt to be worn untucked as the double layered fabric is a little thick and really isn't that soft. I'm hoping that with time it will gradually soften, but it's a nice layering piece that's pretty versatile.

OK I cancelled the green hoodie. FOMO got to me and taking a gamble with the sizing. Will re-order if it shows up on the Dutch webiste 😜
Aww, it’s a good hoodie. I didn’t mean to discourage you. It just bleeds a lot when you first wash it. It’s 100% cotton versus cotton/poly blend. It’s not as baggy as those either.

No worries, I got what you meant :). The earliest I will receive this shipment is late December or early January, so I decided to cancel one item in case a nice sale happens on a European webshop before that. Your comment did help with deciding which one to cancel :D

Anyone else hoarded their tags over the years? Maybe I’ll get a pegboard for them
I sure do. I've got them going back over 20 years. I thought I'd share a few notable ones. The first two are from those vintage Red Wing Pecos boots I showed on here a few days ago (page 3099). As I mentioned earlier, I bought them in 2003 at the Mulberry Street RRL store, and I see they were only $225 back then! Imagine what they'd sell for now! The third one is from a pair of chinos from 2004. I'm amused by "HARD PRESS WITH STARCH WITH A CENTER CREASE"!

If some of you think saving tags is a little quirky, the following might just qualify me for being slightly insane. Whenever one of my RRL garments reaches the end of its useful life, I remove the buttons or snaps and save them for possible future use. When I get a new shirt and I think it would look better with a different set of buttons or snaps, I'll swap them out. Sometimes, as a shirt ages, I'll change buttons a couple different times throughout its life. Of course, I keep them hidden in case the authorities ever show up at my home to do a wellness check!

That's actually pretty cool.

I wish RL had a misc section on their store, where we can purchase this sort of stuff.

I wish they did too. But like all retailers, I suspect they have to keep a strict inventory of all items, and this would probably be a huge hassle for them. I recently needed some replacement shoe laces for the olive green canvas sneaker, and it was like trying to get a hold of some buried treasure on a deserted island. I ended up buying white cotton laces and dying them with olive green RIT fabric dye. (It actually turned out pretty good!) Then, how did I get the metal aglets onto the tips of the laces? I used electrical butt-connectors from the hardware store! (That turned out sort of OK!) I should add, several months later, a man from the NYC flagship store finally got me a pair of the OEM olive laces, but I sure hope I never need another one.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
