Has anyone had any luck altering (shortening) this type of sleeve? Seems more complicated than usual.

Yes. My tailor took the sleeve up from the shoulders instead of the cuff to keep the original details. It’s more expensive, but worth it

got the black officer chino from this season, it's definitely a bit slimmer than say a 2010 version I got (that one I got is also selvedged and like 11oz?), I can still wear 28 but pocket would unbelievable tight to put anything in so went for 29 instead.

I had the same experience. I am a 31 in RRL slim fit jeans and corduroy pants, but both 30 and 31 in the regular officer chino measured just under 30 inches and were too tight. So I got a 32 and they measure just under 31 inches.

actually I'm somewhat different

I'm true 30, in slim I can take either 29 or 30, 28 is ball busting slim, so skip. in low straight I'm 28 or 29

in the really old days officer chino I'm definitely 28, this one feels like 28 is wearable but pocket all that is way too tight to put stuff in so I went with 29.

Looks good, but it's also a perfect example of how great RRL designs are. I think the Wrangler shirt "tries too hard" and wouldn't be as wearable. @clee1982 put it well ... "that's bold".

For me it also depends on who’s wearing it and where. Living in the city in the Netherlands (like me, or both of us actually) versus living in rural USA. I see some country musicians wearing beautiful Wrangler shirts that feel too much for me but look in place and very good in the places where the style originates.

Completely agree; my comment was definitely from the perspective of a European city dweller.

To me there is something else : Wrangler shirts patterns are often a mess, usally around the middle. Look at this one :

Oddly enough, they seem to have paid attention to the pocket pattern. So maybe it is fully intentional and at some point back in the days the western shirts were a mess like this but I really prefer the clean patterns of RRL.

That being said, it happens every now and then that I have to order multiple RRL shirts to get the one with a properly ordered pattern.

This one in particular was a nightmare with the losanges in the middle not overlapping properly. I now would like it in XL and I dont even try to look for it.

I'm quite flabbergasted as to what Wrangler can actually produce for the money (and still turn a profit). Any one of their shirts is at minimum 5 times cheaper as to what RRL is asking, yet style wise they are similarish to RRL pieces.

I'm clearly not as exacting as you. I didn't even notice the asymmetry until you pointed it out. I was impressed by the pattern and the color. As others have pointed out, I agree it's not for everyone, but nothing is.

Not the greatest fit pic (small apartment, bad lightning), but this is how this season's brown denim jacket fits.

I am wearing a size small. I have sized down a bit to achieve a slim fit. Makes layering difficult though, so if you like wearing thick shirts/sweaters, best to stick to your regular size.

Wearing it with the slim fit denim shirt, vintage fit jeans & cowboy boots.

Yeah, good luck with that, that’s a full rebuild unless you sacrifice the buttons closest to the cuff. Posssible to shorten from shoulders maybe?

I started learning Dutch about 18 months ago and it's been far easier than any other I've studied. Like, scary easy for an English speaker.

Thanks kurdo, that jacket wasn't on my buy list, but now it is. Looks great. I might size down to small too but I'm worried about sleeve length (I need 35").
