I agree with their leather jackets being overpriced, but you can sometimes get them for 20-30% off, which is more reasonable. And while there are Made in Japan/Italy/USA jackets for a much lower price, I have yet to find similar style (designed) as well as RRL. Maybe that's why they can get away with it ... unique value proposition. RRL pieces stand out more (imo).
100%. Not just the jacket but I don't think anyone does designs like RRL. I see all these Americana-Vintage inspired brands get recommended to me on insta and I don't know if it's my bias but I'm always like.... yeah nowhere near RRL's offerings.

Mister Freedom comes close though; have yet to get anything from him.

Quality decrease and price increase has made me very picky the last year or two. Recently it seems like it's just rebranded polo items, but what hurt the most was when the quality of their leather jackets went down hill
While I do miss the uber heavy weight leathers they used to sell, seems like those went away quite some time ago. And I've got to be honest, I find the recent ones a decent weight and a lot more wearable than those uber heavy ones.

Retail prices of the leathers seem to be tracking inflation with current prices maybe even being a bit lower. But of course the big difference is 60% off back in the day used to be the norm. But now 30% is the new 60%.

Quality-wise, I've had several issues with wonky fasteners coming off shirts the past couple years. And a corduroy western with uneven spaced snaps.

I think RRL strike the "cosplay" right, 100% repo brand (as in super faithful japanese ones) are just well "costume", RRL on the other hand is cool and wearable.

with regard to super heavy thick leather, not sure how I feel (I never owned any RRL leather jacket), I had proper Schott/Aero jacket before (still have the Schott, call all of that mid life crisis purchase), they never get as much wear as luxury brand (say Valstar, RLPL or your typical Gucci/Celine/Saint Laurent) or even semi serious like James Grose (which isn't actually trying to be for riding I would imagine, not that I ride anything besides Citibike...). My schott is still not fully broken in and I just don't wear them that often.

Got this beautiful light western for just 50 bucks on Vinted. Fits like a glove.

If people ask me what my fitness goals are, my answer is fitting these slim fit western shirts for the rest of my life 😎.

speaking of which...

Hey folks, I had a quick look around the RRL store yesterday and is it me or has the quality on some of the clothing really gone downhill in the past 12 months?

Meh, not me. In fact, in some instances, feels like quality is a little better than say, 5 or 10 years ago. Price of course is higher, but I’d be hard pressed to say quality down across the board

I think the same about RRL finding that perfect balance between vintage styling and modern wearability. And I love the different sources of inspiration. I think a brand like Freenote Clothing makes some beautiful stuff too, and I really want that Riders jacket. But RRL always has something I want even more in their collection.

It is beautiful, although more or less full price I see. When I saw it on Vinted I knew I had to buy it immediately and not wait for sizing details, because for 50 euro it was a steal.

took a gamble on bunch stuff on older's best, think it worked out pretty well, though don't think all of their measurements are accurate... (that's the gamble part, just on pants inseam), it would definitely work with RRL aesthesis, though some of their stuff are too true to "original" (i.e. cosplay point I mention earlier)

With their prices your can dollar cost average with RRL. 😆

Though their prices are going up.
