I am on the slimmer side of your standard 40R. I find that RRL shirts fit me better in a medium.

For this particular sweater, though, I felt like a large fit me better. I think the large has a better length for me (I'm 5' 11"), and I did not mind the added drape that comes from sizing up. I'm not sure what the RRL store measurements say, but this is based on an in-store try on at Stag in Austin.

If anyone has the hand tooled attaché, here, it’s a great bag, with poor stitching. They used cotton, not poly, threads - which i learned the hard way while on travel.

Nice looking bag. I got the medicine bag from a number of seasons back. I haven't used it much but it sure is lovely.
