Agreed. These are like seven years old? Maybe sized differently then. I am consistently a 31 waist, though I need it for the top block and usually wear a belt to snug the waist.

A very long shot but worth a try - and an RRL B/S/T community is probably the best place to look.

I'm looking to buy a silk-trimmed black velvet jacket (it's also sometimes inaccurately described as a 'smoking jacket') that was retailed by RRL under the Polo and Rugby labels. The jackets were produced in Macau and so the larger sizes are rare (I have a size XL which fits perfectly and a size LL and L, which I picked up on Japanese auction sites which are more like a medium in UK/US sizing and so very snug across the chest, where i need a 23" pit to pit). I'll be selling on the smaller jackets.

It's a pretty faithful copy of a pattern from the very early 1880s (ca. 1882) and was often worn by members of the Art and Crafts and Aesthetic Movements (see Robert Louis Stevenson below, "Mr Velvet Jacket" but also W.A.S. Benson, Benjamin Disrelli, Oscar Wilde, et al.).

Although it's not obvious from the screenshot images (from a used example that sold in the USA), it's a 4-button fastening with a high gorge.

The dimensions of the XL are:
Back centre seam (top of collar- bottom hem): 32"
Chest (pit-pit): 23"
Shoulder blade: 19 1/2"
Sleeve seam: 27"

I keep my size XL jacket for special occasions (university graduation ceremonies, weddings, etc.) as velvet isn't the most hard wearing fabric, but I'd like to get another in the same size for more regular wear.

I've also added an image of the Polo example without the ticket pocket (also four-button fastening).

If you have either one of these in an XL and are willing to sell or trade then please contact me, cash waiting.
