Topman inspired by Ervell?
"Inspired by" is a very polite way to put it
Well I'm sure the recent collections have been selling like hotcakes but as collections it still shit.
Everthing after Fall 10 feels uninspired and incohesive, there's still the occasional interesting item but taken as a whole it's just a bunch of gimmicky shit and lazy rehashes as raz said.
I still want the copper and rust shirts.
Haha, I think 'straight copy' is a better way of putting it. Still, I wouldn't have expected Topman to look towards Ervell as a designer to copy.
Does anyone know how is the fit is like for the patrik evrell jacket/blazer? am a slim 36, was wondering if the 36 would fit..
cannot find any measurements but someone on the tread mentioned the cut runs pretty small.
The official website has measurements listed for everything...
if you are a slim 36, go for size 38.
I'm usually a 34 (IT44) and I have a size 36 unstructured blazer from SS11 and a size 36 standard blazer from FW11 that both fit me well. So it's probably advisable to size up.
BTW where did you find a size 36 Ervell blazer? The Ervell site didn't seem to carry that size for SS12. I know La Garçonne still has one from FW11 on sale:.http://www.lagarconne.com/store/item.htm?itemid=12270&sid=1153&pid=1153
Barneys warehouse sale has it in Navy sz 36 for $399 right now
That doesn t make the individual pieces any worse. As I said, I agree to an extend. But there is a difference between the collection as a whole and the ability to put out an interesting suit even if it is hidden between a bunch of stuff I wouldn t look at twice. To be honest, sometimes its even nicer that way as compared to schneiders frozen wave collection for example for which you really want to applaud the designer but don t know where to start because you could basically buy everything.
Barney's jacket is cotton.
It's not just Topman, Ervell seems pretty darn imitated. For instance, my girlfriend works for AA. They've ripped him off big time. Last season my girl wanted to buy me this jacket from AA. I then googled Ervell's original and she was pretty shocked at how inch by inch the ripoff truly was. I've noticed a ton of knock-offs there (many Ervell). They seem to have ripped off almost every stage of the Air Jacket evolution along with accessories and basics. Their quality is crap, though, as far as their pricing is concerned. If you want cheap Ervell knockoffs, find used Baron Wells shirts.
We are doing a sale on 50% off all Patrik Ervell going on right now.
Shrine currently has the following pieces...
Standard Button Down with Rounded Collar in Light Blue - $230 now $115
Button Collar Shirt in Red and White Stripe - $220 now $110
Knit Polo in Black, Burgundy, and Oatmeal - $220 now $110
Standard Blazer in Olive, Navy, and Black - $920 now $460

If I could get the rust club collar in an XL (did/does an XL exist?), I'd die happy...
Agree with most comments re: lazy, boring recent seasons, although the field coat in faded black from fw11 was one of my favorite and most currently used pickups.
