I've mentioned it before, but if you're parked on La Brea weekdays between 4-7PM they'll tow you in mere moments. The ticket is $160 and the cost to get it out of impound is $250 - a whopping total of $410. I've seen a line of tow trucks just waiting... "3:58 - 3:59 - Let's Roll !"

Saw it this morning as well. I wish it wasn't staged. Entertaining nonetheless. Looks like a pretty city.

Let's talk about the American Rag parking and bathroom nazi's while we are at it. You can't use their bathroom, even if you buy their shit, unless you purchase something from the restaurant. The bathroom is in the shop, but supposedly "owned" by the restaurant, which is separate. Even though their Costa Mesa fashion mall shop has the same type of restaurant.

Supposedly, if they catch you with another bag that's not from AmRag they will not honor your validation either. Even if you have a bag from AmRag.

yeah. i've experienced having to go to the restroom there...ended up going to the coffee shop/cafe a few doors down, but I did buy a drink afterwards.

glad I threw my Union bag into my american rag bag the other day....didn't know about the policy, just did it instinctively. :foo:

    Yup, this is true.

But like i said earlier, there's parking now on the corner of La Brea and 1st for only $1 an hour.

It actually is true. I've had it happen to me and so have friends. On several occasions. You may have had a different experience, but that doesn't invalidate mine. And yea, they did tell me the restaurant owns the bathroom and is owned by someone else, which I still think is bs.

must have missed it. I liked going into the monocle store, buying an issue..checking out some of the (overpriced) items...occasionally picking something up..but not too often. pity...they are coming out with a Porter backpack that looks pretty dope....

    Not surprised.

Love the mart butIi don't think that was the right location for them, plus like someone else said, everything was overpriced. It would do better in Venice or maybe W. Hollywood.

Anyone been or review the Unionmade Store there? I was there once when they opned but seems as if it's been closed all the other times I've been to the Brentwood Mart.

for monocle, I think the Brentwood Country mart is appropriate...lots of similarly priced and upscale things over there. i liked it but yeah, probably not a lot of foot traffic. somewhere on Beverly or 3rd probably would have been good. maybe abbott kinney but it seems too high end for it.

I've been to unionmade a few times, I like the store, they have a few nice selections from their larger SF store...tanner leather wallets, filson bags, aldens, some assorted casual stuff and baxter products.
