1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

LOL. In 25 years of living in LA, this is the first time I've heard or read of someone looking for a cab on a street.

Maybe it's just that I'm familiar with the area or used to volunteer at a homeless shelter downtown, but an area like Main doesn't bother me. I'm not saying I'd go around the Garment District on a Saturday night for a good time, but I just don't feel the intimidation at the level of some. I'm much more cautious in places like Echo Park where hipsters think it's Disneyland even though it's notorious gang territory.

yeah, I was basically in the middle of skid row sticking out like a sore thumb. tents, cardboard boxes, etc. didn't see much drugs being done so that was a relief. no crackheads that I saw, just homeless.

One time I took my girl (from oc) to a club in hollywood and she had to use the atm so we walked to a bofa machine off sunset before the strip to take money out. There was a poor homeless du sleeping 50 ft away and she got all freaked out and that was with me standing right next to her LOL.

Sorry we didn't get to hook up, mang, but I'll have more time in December. I think Martin gave you my # though.

I tried to get your number but martin didn't have it or some shit and said he just talks to you on fb or some shit I didn't understand wtf he was saying.

Tonight a girlfriend of mine wanted to go to dinner so I decided on aoc.
    -lentil salad (great)
-bacon wrapped dates stuffed with cheese (always amazing)
-fingerlings with creme fraiche (a staple)
-duck confit with pancetta wrapped figs (was aight)
    -pork belly with peaches (nice)
-butterscotch pot de creme with fleur de sel (love salted desserts and I hate butterscotch) with coffee

Also had a carafe of wine that was recommended with our food, paired very well and my lady friend loved it.

true story: when i first worked at the north end of downtown, i was in an office between spring and main. the loading dock on the alley out back was the smoking deck and there were actually people who quit smoking because the stench of urine, etc. from the alley was so bad they couldn't stand it. of course, now that very spot is the entry way for the edison. it's hard to believe how much downtown (at least some parts) have changed. but, yeah, get down around san pedro/alameda ... toy district, fish district, north part of fashion district ... close to the missions, and it's still very iffy.

Been to Craft. It was ok overall. The array of beets were awesome. They also had some Hawaiian Blue Prawns which were quite tasty.

hit up the spice table tonight. i thought it was pretty average. bok choy, beef rendang, some noodles and the chile prawn satay. only liked the rendang, which was a fairly good version of the dish. the other dishes were kind of misses. atmoshere and service were good though. doubt I'll go back.

tried the ludo bites truck after a few drinks at an event, they had a lot next to Vibiana....the fried chicken was great, the honey mustard sauce was too vinegary though.

^ Will have to check this out.

Ironically, ever since I moved up to L.A. I haven't eaten out around here nearly as much as I used to.
