    Everyone goes to Paru's.
This dude better not be going on a date with my chick, haha. BTW, Rustic Canyon's Niman Ranch Burger is a potential Golden State killer (and the fries are better). If you go, try and do reservations. There weren't any open tables.

I paid $90+ after tax for 2 burgers, a salad, and 2 glasses of wine last night [IMG]

It's on Wilshire in Santa Monica. You should check it next time you're gonna be in the area

A month old post, but I just tried it the other day. It was pretty good. GF & I split the veggie which was eggplant / aspargus / goat cheese. Will definitely try it again.

There was somewhat of a Newport beach bro contingent hanging out at the bar but eh what are you going to do.

I went with a group and tried a few different pies. I had the diavola-spicy meat pie. This was the best I tried, the arugula/proscuitto was good. Tried the squash blossom one, which was their signature or something i think, and was not impressed. Tasted flat. Also has some orrichette and sausage which was decent.

Overall I think ortica might have the edge in terms of flavor and ingredients.

thoughts on the tar pit? Went there tonight with PG2G's girl (j/k--that's tomorrow night). Liked it. Not at all cheap, but the cocktails were pretty quality for what one normally finds in LA restaurants, and the food was solid as well. Had cucumber and radish salad, fried pork terrine, steak, duck, and fig compote with guinness ice cream for dessert. The food is pretty straightforward, but solid, and <$20 for entrees is actually not too bad. The pork terrine and duck were probably the best. Waitress was super pretty and very competent. Cocktail highlights included the hanky panky (gin, fernet, antica carpano) and the crooklyn (rye, dry vermouth, maraschino and amaro). A bit more upscale in terms of decor than I expected, but I liked the classy, slightly retro ambiance.

Had the burger at GS today to go and was good even at room temperature by the time I got to eat it.

Better than father's office which I probably wouldn't have again.
