1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I'm looking forward to trying Cassia for the first time because I loved Spice Table.

I found Cassia pretty overrated for the $. Flavors were decent though.

Charcoal off Washington delivered much more despite the $.

Well I never met a cookie or ice cream I didn't like when high/drunk as fuck standing in line at DR!

Went to Cerveteca DTLA… nice joint for happy hour drinks and snacks.

Also checked out the Hauser Wirth & Schimmel gallery as well as Artbook in the "new" arts district.

Went over to Guerrilla Atelier and hung out with Carl Louisville for a bit… he's an LA fashionista icon and a purveyor of cool shit downtown.

Default assumption for basically any new restaurant in town

A buddy of mine who teaches at Occidental just posted online a screenshot of the thermometer in his office. At just after 10:00 a.m. Eagle Rock broke 104F/40C.
I'm closer to the ocean so it's not quite as bad, although still pretty damn hot. Plus, the "heat perception factor" at my house is elevated because (1) somehow the house always manages to be ten degrees warmer-- in hot weather -- than the outside, even when the A/C going; (2) having a teenager in the house constantly complaining about how hot it is make it a bit harder to just keep drinking cold beer and ignore it.

Lmao. A few years ago I went to my buddy's pad in Sherman oaks and it was 117. Ended up driving to Zuma where it was like 74. Sgv is damn hot too.

it's 107 right now at the Mt. Washington weather station, right up the street from my house. I do have AC, thank god. I was still thinking of heading downtown the the LAPL main branch to work there but I don't think I can handle making the drive there.

Hi all - with the recent heat wave, and some skin sensitivity to the sun - I'm looking for a good hat. Any hat purveyor recs in LA? A quick google led me to this link:

Any thoughts on Goorin? Seems like a good selection....

^ oh shit that's not far from where I am this summer and I love soft serve. I don't necessarily like waiting in long lines for relatively cheap free stuff, though. Maybe I'll check it out on Friday.

Hugo's in Atwater Village has soft serve too, though it may be some kind of soy product? Don't remember.
