Since this thread is, by definition, worthless without pics, I'll kick it off with a discussion of the difference in character between lenses of the same focal length but different maximum aperture. Leica people discuss this at length, but a couple of photos easily serve to illustrate. Note particularly the bokeh, or out-of-focus areas.

Both photos were shot with Leica M rangefinders on Kodak BW400CN film.

First, the current version of the 50mm Summicron (f2) shot at maximum aperture (or very close to it).

Second, the 50mm Summilux (f1.4) pre-asph, the version prior to the current one.

Hey Red, do you know any places here in Tokyo where I can get rolls of Medium Format film processed and get some prints? I have been using 127 roll film this summer in a Yashica 44 (similar to a Baby Rollei in size) and really want to get some wedding pics printed.

I knew Bic would do 35mm for sure but I wasnt sure about odd sizes.

I have not gotten my first reel developed yet as I cant afford a decent scanner at the moment. I dont want to pay 20 bucks just for them to put my stuff on a cd...

hopefully soon
