anyone have a review of the wallace and barnes selvedge chinos? looks like they just dropped a navy version as well. i have several different RRL selvedge chinos but looking to see if this is a decent alternative

the price is hard to stomach although i guess its a little better with a student discount (not sure if it is excluded though)

Does anyone know if the Jcrew broken in tees ever go on deep sale for neutral colors at some point in the year. Like 50-60% off? When is the best time to buy them?

Wait till they go on sale. Never buy anything from J.Crew that is less than 30% off. If you are patient you can easily get 40% off or more as well. Sometimes they will even let you stack the promotional discount with the student discount if you are lucky.

+1. J.Crew seems to have a perpetual 30% off sale going every week. It's rare that I see any of their stuff not on discount. I'm not 100% certain but the 50% off deals usually only come around at the end of the season and this is typically stuff with limited sizes that has been picked over. I would never pay full retail for their stuff, unless it was for a unique pair of Aldens

yes except anything good at jcrew doesnt actually go on sale

third party items and certain items from w&b are always excluded including those selvedge chinos

for what it's worth the Wallace & Barnes indigo dyed Japanese Workwear shorts are a solid buy. very well built, great cut, great color, really nice material (very soft). they are vanity sized (i haven't washed mine yet so not sure about shrinkage). lots of indigo bleed to start. Sale codes work. I think I got them for 30% off a few weeks back.

I always see third party items on sale - just look at the "J. Crew In Good Company" link in their sale section, which is all third party vendors. Which W&B items are excluded from sales? Seems like I see a lot of their stuff marked down as well

Is Wallace & Barnes a real company or just something J. Crew made up for marketing purposes?

I am 99% certain it is the latter, as RRL is to Polo.

For those who own or have tried these, what are your thoughts? Do the quality, look, and fit justify the $288 price tag? Would love to hear your comments! Thanks!
