Feel good. Who cares what political opinions professional athletes have? Why let that spoil the fun of watching them play? I mean, you didn't expect they were all democrats did you? The fact is that most of them are multi millionaires who are going to vote for lower taxes as their main issue.
I generally don't care about sports but I love DC and hate fascism (or corrupt authoritarian white nationalism if you dont like the f word) so this taints something good that happened for DC in a way that normalizes fascism.

Well I love sports, and generally do everything I can to avoid even knowing about the political leanings of players (and for that matter, any other personal preferences they have). I don't want my enjoyment of the game tainted by extraneous and unimportant information.

Some of the most memorable sporting moments in US history were precisely because athletes took a pubic stance on political and/or social issues

From one point of view you're absolutely right.

But one thing I have always loved about sports is that it has the ability to bring people together across all divides. Sports is the only thing I can think of that unites across race/class/gender/political persuasion/etc.

Didn't plan to since I'm still suffering the after effects of Wednesday night. However, just finalized plans to go so will have brunch nearby then wander over to the end of the parade route.
Wound up at Oyamel for lunch around 1. As someone mentioned everything around Penn Quarter was a madhouse (as expected) so fortunately I made a reservation for our table. The food and drinks were great as usual. We walked down to the stage area for about 15 minutes and saw some of the players on their buses. We stuck around the general area for a few more hours for drinks - Present Company (crazy busy), Silo (manageable). Although I had fun I have no plans to ever go to another championship parade (I missed the Caps' last year). Plus I'm glad the week (with nearly non stop drinking) is over. HTTR!

Alright! Great show by the New Pornographers at the 9:30 Club last night! Woke up to find out that I helped turn VA blue as well! Now I get to compose an email to my Troglodytic conservative extended family in Kentucky "congratulating" them on the Dem's gubernatorial win!

Also, staying out late for a show and then going into work early the next works better at 23, not 53...

You mean like Kurt Suzuki, a Japanese American born in Maui, who's family was living in Hawaii during WWII?

Like every NBA athlete?

Kentucky was a major victory: Bevin was the most unpopular governor in the country, down 20 points in the polls against a popular Kentucky political family, and, as of now, AP still has it "too close to call." However, what's not too close to call is that Democrats lost every other statewide election down the ballot by double digits.

Yeah, I saw that. Still, the Governor's race is very symbolic and also very real. Hope it goes the Dem's way today.

Yes, that guy.

The Beshear family was popular because expanding healthcare is popular, and Bevin was unpopular because he tried to roll back that expansion.

I remember listening to NPR back when the ACA was enacted. The Dem Governor of Kentucky cannily called their version of the ACA “KY-nect” or something similar. The interviewer was at the KY State Fair and kept asking folks about it and all they could say was how great it was and that it was so much better than “that Obamacare.” They were of course the same thing.

If people didn't see race when it came to Obama I wonder how his administration would've been received.

Spent a nice afternoon in Georgetown. New black leather dress gloves at Mashburn, snack and beer at Ri Ra, scarf and Henley shirt at Billy Reid. Nice cool but sunny day!

The permanent collection is nice but small. I love Renoir’s Boating Party. Is there a special exhibit on now?
