How about church, what ever happened to your "Sunday best"? It seems to have turned into Saturday-at-the-bbq best. I am sometimes the only one there in a tie, apart from the church ushers. Some people show up in cut-off jean shorts and Redskins jerseys.

By the way, I went over to Sid Mashburn the other day for a first time visit. I was actually kind of unimpressed by the place. Friendly folks and an interesting store, but a very small selection of suits and jackets, especially those on sale.

I think a private club is worse.

My feeling on church now is people who dress up are usually the ones who don’t go to church regularly (obviously not always true). I feel like you’d stick out if you wore a suit to church. But maybe that goes to your point.

The only stuff on sale was seasonal I think.

I have to admit the heat and humidity make it hard to be a CM guy here. I have plenty of light summer sport coats but it's almost too oppressive to wear them anymore. I only wear them now if I'm Uber-ing around or going to the theater.

Too hard to walk. Same with raincoats.

Depends on the denomination of the church.

I'm inclined to agree. I wore linen this morning and walked 10 min to work which was fine, but I probably won't feel the same way on the return trip this evening.

Wearing my navy seersucker today and it’s still hot. Best I can do short of carrying my clothes and changing at work.

Did you do the bar or the full tasting menu?

Full tasting menu. We sat at the counter overseeing the kitchen. We watched the pastry chef spend the entire night building out trays of a fruit tarts, which was served to us as one of our last courses.

The chef accommodated my no pork diet with one easy substitution. The drink pairings were a bit odd, though. I didn't like the Thai beer they served with one dish and the absinthe based cocktail was not to my liking. I assume those are changing all the time along with the menu, so I wouldn't hesitate to go back despite only going about 50-50 on the drinks.

Awesome, thanks for the tips. My wife isn't a big drinker, so we may opt for the bar service rather than the full tasting.

I never really took to tasting menus. It's an interesting experience but sometimes all that stuff doesn't sit well by the end of the evening.

You’d be hot in trousers and a T-shirt too. I don’t have a problem with people who wear trousers and a dress shirt or polo shirt. Maybe if the occasion arises bring a lightweight jacket you can take off when outside.

Btw, for a private club. Denim wears hotter than lightweight wool or linen.

Depends on the denomination of the church.

Maybe. I can only speak from personal experience. Maybe smaller towns are different too. Not sure.

Possibly, although I go to church almost every week. Sometimes people see me in a tie and ask if I'm doing one of the readings
