We had a great time at the Ritz Carlton Georgetown. The lobby was full so we settled at the bar - which was probably better so we could all talk instead of being spread out on couches.

Had an awesome night at the Wharf yesterday. Started with a sandwich (the "Minelli") from Grazie Grazie, which is the successor to Taylor Gourmet and I think surpasses it. One of the best sandwiches I've had recently.

Then to DC101-derland at Anthem for an incredible lineup of Silversun Pickups, the Struts, and Spoon. I'd seen the Struts before and they put on a ridiculously fun show of glam and cock rock. As my buddy said, "I feel like I'm getting an STD just from watching this." I hadn't listened to much Silversun Pickups but they were the surprise of the night. A very well-staged set and an awesome bass player. I'm a big Spoon fan but had never seen them live and they did not disappoint. I'm always impressed by shows at Anthem, I think the people who designed it really thought about accessibility, lots of bars and bathrooms, it never feels too loud or too crowded

I left before Jimmy Eat World's set to peek into the much-smaller Union Stage to see a re-constituted lineup of Big Star featuring original drummer Jody Stephens, Wilco's Pat Sansone, R.E.M.'s Mike Mills (!!), and a few others. This was my first time in Union Stage and I'd definitely go back.

Evening would have been perfect if I didn't have to wait so long for a train at 11pm because of single tracking on the red line.

Never been to Union Stage. Would have loved to see Mike Mills perform. I saw R.E.M. many times and miss them greatly. Was hoping the Trump era would have brought them back but no luck I guess.

Did you see them on their final show in the DC area in 2008? I have many fond memories of that concert.
Yes! Saw them at Merriwether Post Pavilion with Modest Mouse and The National. Johnny Marr came out to play Fall On Me with Peter Buck!

That concert was my introduction to the song, Don't Go Back to Rockville. My wife and I had a wonderful time and later that year, R.E.M. announced they were done so we felt fortunate to have been able to see them!
