Wish I knew this thread existed when I was in town last month to see my tailor, Steven Hitchcock, and get some alterations done.

For what it’s worth, ended up dining at Nakazawa (yum, but probably not as good as the NY one by my estimate; sat at the sushi counter both here and there); Sfoglina downtown (not a fan, everything just seemed one off); Rasika (solid, my non-Indian in laws who were in town for my FIL and BIL to commission some stuff with Steven as well enjoyed it); Dovetail (well, we attempted, inside was every bit of 80+ degrees and it was empty on a Friday for a reason but somehow they didn’t seem to want to move us outside so we went back to the hotel bar for dinner); and an always classic, Palm. Also really enjoyed Call Your Mother for coffee and bagels
Sounds like a busy trip!

What's your experience with Hitchcock been like in DC? Have always wondered how it works with Savile Row tailors who visit the area once or twice a year. If multiple fittings are required after the initial measurements, does it take several years to finish a single suit?

My first time seeing him in DC, my previous two visits were in NYC. I had an initial appointment for fabric and measurements and one fitting, then this one for alterations after I had already received the finished products. From first appointment to receiving finished product last year was November to April (second visit was in February) so not too bad in terms of turn around! Alterations took 2-3 weeks from when I saw him in DC to when I received them stateside.

Arguing about categorization of food stuffs is my new favorite thing to argue about.

Okay, so I told myself no BF shopping for myself but then ended up getting a Canali linen shirt and pants from Mr Porter and a smashing Zegna linen-cashmere blend sport coat from Top Shelf Apparel.

Stop judging me!

Remember there are two Ritz-Carlton’s fairly close to each other!
