Where would you guys recommend for looking at shoes? I'm going to be in DC for a couple days. I don't love the idea of going shopping right now, but I would love to compare some of the European brands for sizing because I wear narrows in Allen Edmonds, and I rarely see narrows in other brands.

I'm staying on capitol hill, but I will have a car.
Also, Alden is fairly close to Sky Valet. Not sure where you’re from and what stores you have access to.

Alden Shoe Co

The Alden DC store is highly underrated, I would go there first.

Does anyone have Vass or those guys?

Clicking around the Sky Valet site, I found these sneakers, which I didn't know I needed, but I am pretty sure I do.

Great minds think alike! I bought those last year in the largest size he carries, equivalent to 11.5 I think. I wore them a few times but they turned out to be a hair too narrow for me so my son got them. He always encourages me to experiment as he gets my goof ups and they usually fit him.

Hetom has about a dozen different Springle shoes from Japan available. If you’re 11 or smaller you should be good!

EDIT: no idea on Vass around here.

It will be worth a try. In sneakers I'm normally an 11.5 or so. My AE Park Aves are 10.5B.

Steve announced on his Youtube channel that his brother passed away in December or early January. I think he said his brother did leatherwork including making custom bags and it was unexpected.

First review on Yelp:
Unfortunately the owner (i believe he is the owner) passed :(
May he forever rest in peace...he will be missed.
I am not sure if the business will still continue to be opened"

Out with wifey in Georgetown today ahead of snow and/or rain. My usual chair in J. McLaughlin.

Grabbing chow at Martin’s Tavern. They checked ID and vax card at the door. Helped to have the NYC app still on my phone as it shows both. Encouraging restaurants are finally checking.

Merchants all require masks in store, no vax check.

I hope you can walk safely on the snow and ice with dainite. I find them precarious, although you heels look different so that might help.
Just got home. Dainite soles were actually a bit slippery in the snow! Should have worn something with a lug sole I guess. Coming down hard out there. Looks like it turns to rain later and won't freeze thankfully.

Georgetown was nice but lots of empty store fronts on Wisconsin. Lunch at Martin's was nice as always. They still have their holiday stuff up!

If we ever get out of this pandemic nightmare, somebody is going to have to come up with a clever way to reinvigorate Georgetown. The pandemic has only accelerated the exodus of retail from both M and Wisconsin.

I don't think there is a way. The neighborhood is not Metrorail accessible, and real estate for retail is limited. Georgetown will always attract tourists, but doesn't have much to offer DC-area residents. Sid Mashburn and the Von Ammon art gallery are the only reasons for me to visit.

Fair enough. Wishful thinking from one who works at the university. I guess the question then is what’s going to become of all of those vacant storefronts.
