I just got back from two weeks in Italy. Even though I'm fully vaccinated, once I departed I started reading about vaccinated people still testing positive. I spent much of the time worrying about arrangements if I tested positive for the flight home: how many extra days required in isolation, where would I stay, who would take care of my dog at home, etc. Fortunately, it did not become an issue.

Here is a bespoke CMT jacket I had made on this trip, my second jacket with this tailor.

It’s a real thing. I get the crap bitten out of me every time I go outside now. We have a chair by our front door and I usually cool off there after cycling. I noticed a few weeks ago I had bites all over my ankles after sitting outside. Kind of like Chiggers if you’ve ever experienced those.

My wife gets attacked by those things every time she goes outside. For whatever reason, they do not bite me. In 15 minutes, she'll get two bites and I'm clear.

Body chemistry I guess. Both my wife and I get bit.

Turning this back into a watch thread for a minute, I just ordered a pre-owned Jaeger-LeCoultre Duetto for my wife as a gift for our 20th Anniversary next month. There's always a risk in buying a used item for someone who doesn't live in our world - I've bought preowned suits, shoes, watches, trousers, jackets, etc. for myself. But, it expanded the quality-level of my budget so considerably I think it should be relatively safe this time. The Duetto, is a manual wind watch. And, unlike most Reversos, doesn't just have a solid caseback to flip over when playing polo. Instead, it's like the mullet of watches. It's business in the front and party in the back.

I also considered some self-winding watches, but realized she might not wear it enough. She wears a Garmin watch for exercise and sleep to track her health and I don't expect she'll change that. But, if she ever returns to the office, she can wear her JLC and when we dress up, which happens quite rarely even in non-Covid times, she will have the MOP and diamonds side.

No matter what clothing I wear initially in Seattle I always end up in plaid with rain jacket. Back in town after some hiking and such and heading to the airport in the morning. Cheers!

Celebrated wedding anniversary today at new spot, Incheon in Annandale, VA. Had Justin Ahn’s tasting menu after reading Tom S review in the Post last month.

Excellent 7 course meal for only $60 per person. Favorites were they short rib hash, ssam, ny strip.

I took the day off yesterday and rode some glorious roads in the Agricultural Reserve. It was early enough to beat the worst of the day's heat and made for a lovely ramble.
