Dinner last night at the Tabard Inn celebrating my son finishing the DC Bar exam and his girlfriend getting her Doctor of Optometry.

They make a decent Rye Manhattan (although it could been a bit heavier on the Rye and lighter on the Vermouth). For spy novel enthusiasts the Tabard Inn is featured in Jason Matthews' Red Sparrow.

Tabard Inn needs to get some bigger glasses.

Congrats to your son on finishing the bar! Had to take that bastard twice and hated every minute of it.

Celebrating the Bar at the bar. I can appreciate the symmetry…

Took my youngest to Brick Fest (Lego convention) today. He didn’t want his picture taken with Lego Batman, but he was willing to take one of me.

Since it’s SF: Hertling mask, Drakes overshirt, Polo 5 pockets….. bar tshirt from “Closed for Business” in Charleston (which is, ironically, now permanently closed)

Just when I had started going back to work DC downgrades its COVID status and we converted back to telework through September again. I guess it saves me the potential binge for Sam Hober ties that I was about to go on.

I have to admit that seeing this latest increase in numbers makes me nervous. I'm going to watch over the next week or so and if the situation does not improve, I will cancel our proposed meetup.

How many of you vaccinated folks are excited to start wearing masks again so you can protect the unvaccinated?

I've not been following COVID news closely so only learned of the new mandate when asked to put on a mask while entering a CVS this past Saturday. I continued to carry my reusable masks (thanks to Uber/Lyft rides) so have had no problem going back to using them inside buildings.

Yeah I'm still wearing masks wherever I go.

And I'm probably getting a Pfizer booster since the JnJ doesn't seem to do well against the delta.
