I wish In N Out would open out here. Could totally go for a double double animal style right now.

Got my test results back from the doc! My total cholesterol came down from 250 to 125. My TGL came down from 188 to 88. And my LDL came down from 182 to 75. I'm out of the danger zone and back to normal range. I'm clear to stop taking the cholesterol meds as long as I keep to my healthy choices. 3 months of discipline and new routine paid off.

Still gotta get the HDL level up 5+ points but I think that means I can start adding muscle building exercises back into the routine so that I can eat that poutine...
Damn~ you put in some good hard effort to get those results. Congrats! I wish I can report similar results soon. I think one way to boost HDL cholesterol is to start taking omega 3s (pure form) or just eat more fish.

As someone in the same situation, do you attribute the awesome results to change in diet and exercise? How much weight did you lose to get this kind of results?

Speaking of burgers, my first hamburger was a cheese burger at a McDonald's and holy macro did they taste awesome back in the 90s. Big Macs were out of this world! Then it was all down hill or maybe my taste buds wanted better quality burgers. But to a middle school kid, McDonald's burgers tasted really good. Before I had to adjust what I ate, my favorite burger joint was Five Guys. We have a BGR but this one by my house absolutely sucks. I'm no longer a burger person anymore, ugh. I stopped eating at fast foods after watch Food Inc. documentary about a long time ago. I refuse to feed my kids shut from the fast food chains.

Thanks man! You're probably well on your way with the more active exercise routine and diet changes.

I went from 187 at my heaviest to 168 this morning. Definitely a combo of the diet change, exercise, and probably the cholesterol meds too. I would bet that diet change probably had the biggest impact because my exercise was super moderate/easy (20 min walk outside, 40+ min of stretches/yoga/pilates sprinkled throughout the work day to get up and away from the desk) after not having worked out regularly since 2016.

187? Not sure how tall you are but that seems like a good weight for me. But I'm glad your results came back very good. Thanks for sharing.

I think I need to go back to lifting weights since I lost a lot of fat from my upper body so my arms look really thin now. I think my initial weight loss in one month will be more than 15 lbs but I expect it to slow down as I get to the stubborn fat. Will check back in soon.

You know how the saying goes: "Bodies are made in the kitchen, not in the gym." I've consciously tried to eat healthier with smaller portions, but it's a slow slog.

I couldn't agree with you more. If you want to lose weight, it needs to be a combo of both change in what you eat and exercise. I have never shed this much weight just by changing my diet. I just eat a lot of veggies and fish. 15 lbs gone in just about 3 to 4 weeks.

DC brunch update: Georgetown

Had a great brunch at Kafe Leopold down in Cady’s Alley. Sun was out and it was quite nice out even if the metal chairs sucked all the heat out of me. Well, it was a German place so I guess that was normal... They do a great version of the Hemingway cocktail by the way.

Also, the Ralph Lauren store seriously expanded their RRL offerings for anyone into the Western vibe,

Philly is ok but central jersey is preferable .

mill take a recommendation though :)
Nothing specific as Boyd’s is my only sartorial experience in Philly. Just figured there would be more than a few around downtown you could search for.

Sorry I missed the burger conversation, there are few things that I love more than a well done, burger, the meat, combined with the right chees, and topppings, there is not much better. Well done as in well crafted, not well done meat, I’m not an animal.

@lordsuperb , amazing pics, I’ve never heard of this place, but now I am intrigued.

Also, not on topic, but I got my J&J vaccine today, waiting for side effects.....
