I wonder if I witnessed that incident or if there were others? It wouldn’t shock me if it happened to him frequently.

Did we ever decide on what masks were medical grade and decent looking? My Brooks Brothers masks are wearing out after lots of use. Need something that's not just a cotton wrap.

I see people wearing Burberry, Gucci, etc masks and I have to ask if they're N95 rated or just cotton. To me, it's sickening to see how corporations like the ones I mentioned above jump on the pandemic bandwagon to make more money. This rant isn't against @smittycl . I've been lucky that my in-laws have been shipping KF94 (N95) masks from South Korea. They ship about 100 masks per shipment.

Zeynep Tufekci has been a great resource through the past year and I'm inclined to believe that re: masks, she's right again: https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2021/01/why-arent-we-wearing-better-masks/617656/

Anyway, get an n95 (or similar) and wear a fancy mask over the top if you really care. Especially with the UK and SA variants making inroads.
Been wearing raggedy BB masks since March and not too worried about the aesthetics. Just looking for a decent med-grade mask! Thanks for the link!

I just wear those blue surgical masks. Cheap. Provides better protection than mist of the masks. Has awesome wire in the nose area that helps with fogging up of my glasses.

I hope we can get back to not going into the office because of COVID rather than b/c our offices are inside the Green Zone.
My agency is considering going 100 remote. We worked even more hours from home and had better productivity. The offices that we rent are super expensive as I was told so it is getting some serous traction in terms of financial benefits at C level

Smart and strategic organizations will move toward that mentality post COVID

Random question - anyone have a good dentist specifically for Invisalign in the area? I’ve been needing to do it forever but haven’t done it. Saw someone pre covid downtown but it was 8k with no cash discount or insurance. Probably will wait till after covid, but wanted to hear recommendations if people had them.

Crap, was talking to a friend of mine via Hangout and he told me his brother-in-law got COVID and then spread it to him, his wife, his parents-in-law, and his two daughters. His wife did get 1 out of 2 vaccines (not sure if that's Pfizer or Moderna) but still got COVID. They reported high fever, inability to smell or taste, coughing, and lost of appetite. They went in full quarantine mode like a week ago and should come out fine. I hear once you get it your body has antibodies up to 6 months.

If there's a doctor on this thread, please confirm my last statement but I think this place is full of attorneys and CPAs.

EDIT: Forgot why I came here. Anybody a big fan of New Balance running shoes?

I’m an ER doc. I hope they’re all doing okay! The short answer to your question is, unfortunately, we’re not really sure. We generally tell people that antibodies from an infection last about 6 months. However that can also depend on the severity of the infection. It remains to be seen just how well the immune system “remembers” how to fight COVID once the antibodies dissipate but the low rate of reinfection is hopefully promising.

regarding the vaccine, one dose will give you a slight head start but not enough to fully prevent an infection. The hope is that the immune response elicited from the vaccine will last at least a year but again TBD.

Hope that helps somewhat!

Cycled down to the mall today. Most roads still closed to cars but bikes and pedestrians okay. Lots of sleepy ARNG folks loading up on buses to head home. i thanked every one I passed. Workers were loading up all the flags but let passersby grab some. Got US flags for my immediate family and managed to get a few MD and PA for my close family from those states.

I had one extra US flag so I gave it to Ireland's Four Courts to put behind the bar!
