Moving apartments on Friday and have been packing all week and walking at dinner time. Very few masks around Courthouse/Clarendon. Restaurants expanding out into the streets this weekend to meet distancing rules. Not sure how that will work.

I'm guessing the Federal Govt doesn't go above 50% manning all summer.

I don't mind the 42mm size but I do hate it when the watch turns out to be too thick that it won't fit under my dress shirt cuffs. Now that I have the Speedmaster, I may look at obtaining an IWC Port five years down the line. I've always wanted that watch.
If you don't need a chronograph, the new 40 mm Portugieser is a good option:

One knock on the IWC Portuguese is that they don't make the movements in-house. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
The new ones are in-house, How much "in-house" is a matter of some debate. Is it in-house if it closely resembles an existing stock movement?

My two IWCs were before they were making in house movements. The Ingeneiur 3521 has a JLC movement with some IWC proprietary parts, including the rotor. Considering JLC is a fine watchmaker, I'm good with it as a non in-house watch.

The Mark XII was the last Mark model before they switched to an ETA movement. It came with a JLC movement, similar to my Ingenieur. And, they tuned it up. But, because mine was a limited edition with a different dial (no date) they used an ETA movement. They upgraded a lot of the stock parts from what I understand.

I don't think there's harm in watches with ETA or Valjoux. For the most part the better makers only keep the baseplates and replace the balance wheel and escapement and other moving parts. It's the makers like Hamilton that just use a raw movement with no finishing or upgrades that I'd worry about.

So how much social distancing will we see once we are let out of isolation in June?
During my walks I don't see a lot of masks. People do go around you if you are on the sidewalk and move to the street or vice versa.

I know someone in Florida and they've been "open" for a while and he tells me that haven't seen the explosion of cases that was predicted. I'm pretty sure that the same is for Georgia (although haven't checked). Maybe the sun/hot weather is keeping the virus down.

Anyone dine at a restaurant outdoors yet? I'm reading that a lot of them are requiring reservations and a deposit.

Holding off on restaurants for a couple of weeks but did make a reservation for mid-june. Reservation at this particular restaurant is capped at 75 minutes which seems silly. hope that changes soon

Just finished moving apartments and finally able to cycle tomorrow. Will check out Capitol Hill, Georgetown and points in between and report on activity. ;)

Great day for a ride. Not as many folks out as I would have thought. Mask use around 10% maybe? Some places open with outside seating.

Protestors smashed up the 1%er brands. Some got passed by but are boarding up ahead of more violence.

Did some cycling as per my usual Sunday routine. Broke my pledge to hold off on eating at a restaurant by trying out a newish sandwich place - serrolina. I was somehow oblivious to the rioting last night (I guess being cable-news and twitter free would do that) so only learned about the teaism, City Center damages while reading the news at lunch. On a whim cycled over to the white house to see the protests then cycled home via K street and Georgetown.
