Fun(ner) fact - It's 100% socially acceptable to drink alcohol while bowling!

I bowled semi-competitively in college. Different era with wooden lanes still in most locations (early-mid 90s). But, there was drinking (not at the 8am Saturday practices for he club team). There was even smoking allowed indoors at the time - but you had to go into the pub area away from the lanes themselves. There was no smoking allowed during bowling gym class FWIW and the pub was closed for alcohol sales until 4pm when open bowling began.

With all of the synthetic lanes now scores have gone up a lot. I imagine the social bowling lanes don't do a great job oiling lanes, so that probably does quite a bit of mitigation on scores. I wonder how to become a competitive bowler now without well kept lanes. Adjusting to oil patterns is one of the things you have to learn to do once you develop a consistent hook. Dry lanes makes it nearly impossible to do things with the ball.

Anybody been listening to any good local music recently?

I've had Jenny and the Mexicats on constant rotation for a few weeks now.

This is a good album.

I finally got my first REAL watch thanks in part to @mak1277. Got the Omega Speedmaster Pro (Moon) with sapphire instead of hesalite. The enthusiasts swear by the hesalite because that's what went to the moon but I've worn a sapphire watch for the last 10 years and I didn't have any issues. Plus, I'm not going into space as far as I know.

Nice! Omega is a great watch
I was going to get omega seamaster... even had an appointment set up to get one before all of this shutdown happened.

Did you end up buying from Jomashop? How was the condition of the watch?

Like some mentioned, you need to see if you are ok buying from gray market since you dont get warranty on the watch so you need consider that when comparing the prices... When i looked before pandemic, I could not find anything less that 4,750 (while it retails at 5,200)... today i saw this: https://www.jomashop.com/omega-watch-210-30-42-20-03-001.html
Guess economy is getting a hit and gray markets dropped their prices significantly.

Right on! Pics, of course, need to come next.

Fundamentally, I think you're 100% right on sapphire. It's honestly pretty silly to buy any watch without it these days.

NPR does a good job of putting me on to new music. I dont understand billie eilish and her hype but I understand the Mexicats.
I don't really like Eilish either but then again I'm in my mid-50's.

I like All Songs Considered but sometimes I wish they'd expand the genres of music they feature. Lots of indie pop bands with two word names like Big Thief and Soccer Mommy and Beach Bunny and Snail Mail...
