Nice show but I think jazz is best enjoyed in smaller venues, preferable a nightclub, where you can hear the actual instruments rather than the speakers. She closed with her hubby’s “Ophelia” which was fast and cool.

Ophelia is a song by The Band (Robbie Robertson, RIP), both Costello and Krall are fond of covering it, separately and sometimes together.

Oh yeah, forgot that was from The Band!

I just looked up her set list and the second song in her encore was Elvis Costello’s “Almost Blue.” She mentioned that then instantly launched into “Ophelia.”

Our Sunday jam is getting some videos up on Youtube.



I brought my bass guitar this time around since there is always a dearth of bassists at these things and the low end is vital for such performances. After ~3 weeks or so of practice, I didn't do too badly.
