Okay, walk around Arboretum was fun but a bit slow, needed more exercise. Went for nice city ride after lunch. Decided to stop at Rhodeside Grill in Arlington to cap off a nice weekend with a Dark & Stormy. They make a good one.

I know we discussed this last year but what are the best Dark & Stormy’s in DC? I’m still partial to Nick’s (pic from last summer). For a while I would only drink them in the Caribbean but that seems silly now.

I’ll go back to Cotton & Reed and try again once the D&S is officially back on their menu. Think I’ll try them at home now as well.

Ideally I would like to have one back in St. John!

Are they strictly shirt makers? Good to see an interesting shop open there rather than another Mall store.

They are bespoke shirtmakers in London, so I assume service will be available. They start around $500, so I'm not sure there will be a huge market here where there are so few who work in finance. Their London store also has a lot of accessories, like socks, squares, cummerbunds, sweaters, etc. Depending on their square footage, I assume they will carry those as well as RTW shirts.

This a curious time to open a clothing store devoted to traditional business clothing. The pandemic is likely to accelerate the trend toward telework and casual dress (except for StyleForum members). I wish them luck.

This may be a totally uninformed opinion (hey, it's the internet), but there are thousands of corporate lawyers and management consultants and defense contractors and such in this area. All it takes is for a tiny percentage of them to be Paul Manafort-level profligate to keep a place selling $500 shirts alive.

I was thinking the same thing. It's not like we are flooding back into offices right now.

Who is buying $500 shirts 🧐?
Not me. I'd just spill coffee on it or sweat out the collar here in our sticky climate.

That makes sense. Ever tried anything from them?
Never tried them. If you look at sterling & Burke’s offerings now, you’ll see they offer a lot of stuff by budd rtw (Atleast branded budd). I had thought about trying budd for shirts but never got around to it & realized I prefer the lightness of Italian shirt collars.

correction: I am not sure if they were bought by budd or they were bought by the Benson & Clegg, the bespoke firm in London. I just remember thinking there was a connection between all 3.
