Accidentally posted this in MC chat instead of DC chat.

Friends, how insane would it be to wear a white waffle weave (non pleated and turndown, to be very clear) dinner shirt as a dress shirt in some formal, slightly elevated evening situations?

I would never do it with my shirts that have obvious black tie accoutrements but this is buttoned and turndown and plain front.

One of my tux shirts is a waffle weave, from Haspel. I think strictly speaking they refer to it as "ursuline" but it's a diamond-waffle type weave. While it has proper slits for studs, the placket does carry MOP buttons as well. I've used it in that format more than once and nobody batted an eye.

I suppose it ultimately depends on the makeup of the crowd around you.

Generally concur with @armedferret , a lot depends on what the whole shirt looks like (I’m assuming it’s French cuff?) and what the rest of the fit entails? Suit?

Also curious? Why? Do you have a more “suit” appropriate white shirt?

Bring PASTENA to DC!

I messaged him on IG, he said he’d consider a trip to DC I could line up 4 appointments, any takers?

Is website pricing fairly close, 2k euro for a jacket/trou combo?

I might could hop on board for that.....we don't have to fly to Italy for a basted or anything right? ;)

(only thing that kept me from going with Bemer or Mannina for shoes tbh)

Pretty sure that’s at least in the ball park, and I am relatively confident if he travels, then he’d come back for fitting. I can ask…

Sure, why not? If it's cut like a traditional dress shirt the pattern seems fine.

Honestly I just really like the fabric and I have a great black tie shirt already with pleats; kind of tempted to get this to pull double duty. Struck me that it's not that dissimilar to, say, the white self-striped T&A shirts I've worn in the past in the evening with a dark suit.

Picturing it worn with a navy three piece or similar.

Maybe set up a google sign up sheet for him to see our interest?
Here’s the deal fellas.

Find 5 commitments for orders and he’ll consider adding you to future trips.

If you find 7 people by COB Monday he’ll change his flights and add you to the visit next month to include you.

Another visiting tailor? I don’t think I’ve heard of this guy. Who has used him in the past?
