What kind of food are you looking for and how many bottles do you want to bring? The first restaurant that came to mind is one of my favorites, Reveler's Hour in Adams Morgan. It is best described as a farm-to-table wine bar and restaurant with Italian and Mediterranean influences. They have a corkage fee of $50 and a limit of one bottle/table, but the wine selection is very good should you need more wine.

Looking to bring one bottle (with another as back up if corked). French, steakhouse, American. Will check out your recommendation. Thank you.

I think Reveler's Hour is a really great spot. It's basically Italian, which you didn't mention.

The same people own Tail Up Goat, which is slightly more upscale and a bit more diverse with dishes. I think it maybe has a Michelin star. They have the same $50 corkage fee. Personally, I prefer Reveler's Hour, but they are both solid spots.

I should add that Reveler's Hour is not cheap but generous with the freebies. The sommelier is very likely to stop by your table with a glass of wine that he thinks will go well with your meal. I go to the restaurant with sufficient frequency and spend enough money that the kitchen sends me a free appetizer as a matter of course as well. Last night I received an ouzo-infused vermouth as an aperitif and an Italian bitter liqueur as a digestif in addition to my free appetizer.

+1 on the revelers hour suggestion. Clearly I don’t go there as much as ambulance chaser, but it’s one of our go-to spots for impromptu short walking-distance nights out.

Both Tail Up Goat and Reveler's Hour are great, but like @zalb916, I prefer the latter. Tail Up Goat has a Michelin star and is ideal for special occasions like a wedding anniversary but is a bit "precious." Reveler's Hour is more of a neighborhood place that one would go regularly (like I do).

Had a very good meal at Tail Up Goat. I didn't find it to be precious at all, in fact, it was a pretty lively scene and thought the staff casual but on point. All the dishes were good, but I'm a little surprised it has a Michelin star. I brought a 1990 Latour, my last bottle, and it was absolutely perfect. Thank you again for the recommendation, we really enjoyed it.
