Would I be the first person to ride a Vespa in black tie in DC? Probably. Will I actually do it? Probably not. Safety and all that, way too many idiots have been trying to kill me the last few weeks heyoooo.

On Penn Ave, G Street and 17th.
Yes, I noticed the fences and boarded up windows after work yesterday. The Whitehouse and Chamber had fencing, and some corporate building had boarded up windows. I didn't notice in the morning so was a bit puzzled with the mention and when it came up during a work call from some out of towners.
Hip Flask looks pretty nice (and black tie optional appropriate); has anyone been there and can comment?

Would also support Silver Spring if there's a decent venue in that area.

I also like Smitty's earlier suggestion (if downtown works for folks). This place:
More than happy to do the Ritz since I live in the city. This location may be better for all versus the typical Georgetown site since it's near some of metro exits (Foggy Bottom/Farragut Square, Dupont).

Definitely not. If Ritz is selected I very well may wind up riding a scooter in my tux.

OK gents,

I think we have general consensus on a meet-up date: 20 December (the Friday before Christmas)

Attire: Full tailoring or black-tie w/scooter optional ;) ;) ;) Just kidding, come as you are... but it is StyFo and the holdiays...so I am likely to bust out the tux, no pressure on anyone else to do the same.

Let see if can nail down a venue, reply with your choice if you are planning to, or are likely to, be there:

1) The Dignitary in the Marriott near the convention center

2) Ritz Carlton DC near Foggy Bottom (two venues inside, Saga restaurant and Quadrant Bar & Lounge)

3) Hipflask rooftop bar, Bethesda

4) Your write-in venue

Ha, realized my black tie rig needs a small bit of letting out. (Genuinely small, blessedly, but being DB I don't have the option to wear it open unless I get a cummerbund or waistcoat for it.)

My preference is for the Ritz (top choice) and The Dignitary. But Hipflask would be great, too!

Honestly, no pressure to wear black tie. But if you want to, a quick fix for a DB that needs let out a bit is to move the buttons. Not ideal, but less expensive than other alterations.

Heading downtown to hopefully see Impressionism exhibit at National
Gallery. Will also stop by Barbour store to see if they can shorten the sleeves w/o sending it back to the UK.
