for anyone else that sees this - I sized down on the games blazer in the end and it worked very well. Still comfortably fits with room in the chest but looks much better. Perfect on shoulders too. Maybe not quite enough space for all the layering drakes does in the lookbooks, with say an Oxford has a lambs wool jumper under, but could possibly be ok. Looked a lot better on me than the above size. Stuck to regular size in trousers though.

Which model did you get? And is it really ventless in the back?

Starts on Thursday at midnight. Closes on Sunday at 11:59pm. However, those are according to GMT, as they're based in London. So you have to convert.

My guess is that the prices will be more like end-of-season prices, not actual factory store prices, as I was told it'll be discounts of up to 70%. So there may be a lot of 50% off deals. But I guess we'll see.

Where do we access the sale? Through the standard Drakes website?

Interesting, did they close the Factory Store on Haberdasher St permanently?

They're closing the factory, and with it, the factory store. They're opening a new factory in a larger location somewhere in London. No idea if there will be a new factory store.

Interesting that they're opening a larger factory. Guess they are weathering the current storm.

I always tried to get to the factory store when I was passing through London, fun to browse. I was last there in February before the lockdown, though only bought a square.

The current factory must have had enormous rent, being located so centrally in the hip parts of East London. I would imagine they can move somewhere less central and have a larger factory with lower costs.

I would say the opposite. They are cost-cutting absolutely everywhere.

There were quite a few Covid redundancies at Drake's as well as earlier and steeper sales discounting, which was not good for the brand. The elephant in the room is of course the inescapable, eye watering sunny side Savile Row rent.

It would be a very bold decision to open a new factory in London at this time.

I might be wrong but doesn't Mark own the building?

Quite possibly. He unsuccessfully tried to buy what is now the Paul Smith flagship on Albemarle Street years ago so you could well be right. Nevertheless, a considerable outlay!

Hope this isn’t true. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with all staff at drakes, always. Lovely people and would be tragic if they or their brand were affected in their current nightmare.
