Definitely can be worn as a separate, hopsack and patch pockets make it casual enough.

Not this specific one from drakes, but a very similar piece and it is super versatile and definitely can be worn as a sport coat with non matching trousers (ie, not a suit)

Unfortunately, the sleeves are too long. I'd like to have them shortened whilst keeping the pattern on the bottom of the sleeve if possible.

Sleeves are too long even when you fold the cuff back?

my watch is there as a barrier on my left hand but I have to roll the cuff back a little beyond the crease to get a good fit.

You can get sweaters altered through a tailor, but given the pattern on that design, I think you might be better off just going with a different model.

Hard to know without trying both sizes on, I imagine. You could just measure your best fitting sweater and compare them to the measurements of those sweaters. Just note that guernseys are designed to have a dropped shoulder seam. So you'd just want to compare length (measured from the back), chest size (measured from pit to pit at the front), and sleeve length (measured from the center of the collar to the cuff).

Belseta safari jacket was from SS2018 I think? Recall it retailing for 1k, got it on sale half off. Super lightweight and water repellant so actually works pretty well as a warm weather jacket (coming from someone who runs hot and hates wearing extra layers in warm weather).
