Yeah, I was able to try it on when I visited NYC -- this is a 16, which is my usual size.

yea I bought it yesterday with the casentino gilet.
It’s very much a straight fit hence the belt. I won’t use the belt and would have preferred an internal waist cinch but oh well

I don’t necessarily think it’s an upgrade over Barbour but I do prefer the fit of this and like how the gilet/liner look underneath it
To me it looks fantastic with flannel suits

Got a fun personal grail - the scarf worn by Chris Evans in Knives Out! The most stylish movie I've seen in a long time.

I have a few of their knits, but not the submariner sweaters. I do have a thinner merino turtleneck from them though.

All sweaters pill eventually, but these don't pill as much or as easily. As you probably know, you can take care of pilling with a sweater shaver.

I've got a white one made by William Lockie which I believe is the same what Drake's sells under their own label. I wore it last winter and didn't notice any pilling or stretching. It seemed very well made. I would have worn it six or seven times before the weather got too warm for it.

Thanks for the input guys. Some piling is to be expected so I'm not worried there, just looking to avoid too much. Never bought nicer knitwear so I'm less sure of what to expect, exactly.

I have only seen the previews, but thought just based on a couple quick shots that it looked like a Drakes scarf. Thanks for confirming, and nice grab!

I got my needlecord suit today.
The trousers fit perfectly, and the jacket look good but it feels a bit tight in the shoulders.
Other measurements are pitch perfect (chest, length, sleeves...)
I don’t know if I should just not try and return it, or hope that break in and opening the back seam half an inch will make it work.
Opinions?

I personally don't believe that suits break-in. People say they do, but my guess is that their perception of the suit is more likely to "break-in" than the suit itself.

You can, however, widen the shoulders a bit by letting out the back seam. On stripes or plaids, this could result in an ugly mismatching in the pattern. I don't think it would be as big of an issue with needlecord. Prob best to bring it to a tailor and see.

When I have been in a similar position in the past, I have taken the item (suit, coat, etc.) to an alterations tailor that I trust and have had him evaluate it. In most cases, the tailor recommended returning. YMMV, of course.

Same here. Show it to my tailor and get his opinion. I’ve returned more than one item based on his recommendation.

@smittycl @bry2000 @dieworkwear I’m gonna do what you guys suggest then.

It came as as a surprise for me, because I’m used to be a bit bottom heavy. It’s the first time it’s actually my shoulders which cause issue.

Also, I thought that this suit perhaps could break in because it’s in cotton.
