While I still obsess about quality, it used to drive me to insane levels of anxiety years ago.

I think my most worn and favourite items are a GAP fatigue jacket, and chunky derbies from AE with misaligned facings.

Wearing them feels good man.

Yes, quite an interesting article.

The greater access / availability of content is clearly a good thing (the paradox of choice hypothesis is greatly overstated) but on the other hand I agree that obsessing a la tech geek over minute quality and value details misses the point that hobbies are a joy, not a job...

Don’t get the exclusivity thing, though, that it’s good to go somewhere where only the connected are treated well.
That is not healthy.

Great article.
I have to admit that I find the search for "the best" an entertaining part of a purchase. ?

I was this close to getting those zany Kapital socks at Blue in Green last week. They're lovely.

I can't tell if they actually run small or if I just have bad luck. The guys in the Kapital thread say theirs fit fine, but mine runs a little small. I bought mine at Cotton Sheep in San Francisco. I've gone back to look at their other Kapital socks, but don't have the nerve to bring socks into the dressing room just to try out.

Or maybe it's just one of those Kapital things where it's supposed to fit weird and you have to tell yourself it's part of the apocalyptic pirate ethos.

Yeah, I wasn't about to ask to try on socks in the store either. Do shoes-off-indoors cultures have cooler socks? They ought to.

They run small!!! I've been wondering if it's just me but girlfriend gave me a pair from Blue in Green recently and I can barely get them on my feet. (Somewhat wide feet but otherwise only a size 9.)

@dieworkwear Curious about the example of your own russell plaid that you bring up in this article - https://putthison.com/how-to-think-about-color-temperature/ - as needing a particularly well thought out trouser color/temperature. You spend a good amount of space describing the jacket pattern and color, but never say what didn't work and what finally did for that particular jacket, which only piques my curiosity since it seems, as you even mention, to be an easy jacket to pair. You then give photo examples of other jacket/trouser combinations that work/don't work, but leave that "headline" jacket hanging. Sooo, what worked and what didn't?

Planning to get a pair of off-white trousers with a warm cast made to go with that jacket, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
