My first visit to O’Connell’s today, such an impressive store!

It's been several years since I've so much as been in the same country as a decent clothes shop. Walking through the door and seeing this laid out before me I think I'd break into song like Grandpa Joe:

I never thought my life could be
Anything but catastrophe
But suddenly I begin to see
A bit of good luck for me...

That’s the most chaotic neutral **** I’ve ever seen.

It looks like a clothing factory without the machinery - a worker's paradise.

There's even a red star peeking out on what I presume is a delivery box.

Yes, it's exactly what I imagined the physical version of their website would be like.

I wonder how much of a pain it is for someone to find and pull something that you order online...
They just ask XXXX, who knows where every unit in that shop is at every moment. I don’t know who XXXX is, but I would bet that he exists.

Looks like the basement of a Filene’s basement, without the discounts.

I keep going back to that things better bought used article.

Chamois shirts, fatigue pants, denim jackets seem to slot in nicely in any vaguely trad/ivy/americana wardrobe. This isn't an old concept, Ralph Lauren has been doing this for decades.

In a way, I've come back full circle. One of the first things I bought when I was 18 or 19 was a pair of red wing boots and a fatigue jacket from GAP. A lot of these things feel like nice variations of what I've already been wearing.

It never actually clicked for me until recently, and it's a nice feeling when my wardrobe is starting to have more coherence and actual usability.
