Anyone know a source for made in USA shaker knit sweaters? It seems like it has such American roots, it would feel a bit wrong to buy one that's imported.
It's kind of a shame if no one is making them here, there are a plethora of options for fisherman sweaters that are made in the UK and Scandanavia

One problem is that while there are still fishermen in the UK and Scandinavia, there are only two Shakers left. It is hard to sustain a religious movement when (1) members aren't allowed to have children and (2) religious groups aren't allowed to adopt.

True, although I can't imagine that the fisherman are the ones buying most of the sweaters (or making them, for that matter)

I don't know of anyone in the US making Shaker sweaters specifically, but there are a lot of home knitters in the Northeast who sell their stuff at farmers' markets and general stores. A lot of them are able to knit a wide range of stuff. It's tough to track them down online, but definitely worth asking around if you're ever in that part of the world.

Here are a few that might be able to knit a Shaker sweater if you ask. Cool knitwear either way:

Have you seen the British series Downton Abbey? I'm finishing it up on Amazon Prime and the wardrobe is absolutely amazing. I don't go on the CM side of the forum much, but I'm surprised that it's not mentioned more.

I haven't. I should, as I've heard many good things about it.

It's really good. Lots of drama, great acting, well written, easy to binge.
Did you see the film?
The final scene in the ballroom was shot at Wentworth Woodhouse, which was my college dorm for a year!

I haven’t! Was actually planning a “period” screening when it came out (I know, I know) but it’s an excuse to dress up and drink merrily, so why not? Never got around to it, but I still drink merrily ?
