A couple of years ago I was out shopping for a new raincoat. The store hade a great looking super soft suede jacket on sale. I stood there with a coat in one arm and the suede jacket in the other. My wife entered and i tried on the suede once more. She said I looked great. I quickly threw away the raincoat and bought the leather jacket. Man I felt cool. The only obstacle is that I live in the city in europe with the most Rain. Thus I have worn my leather jacket 4 or 5 times and still get wet, on a daily basis, when I wear my old raincoat.

Hmm, couldn't Tarrago's Nano Protector work for this?

I use it on my suede shoes and it works amazing.

Anyway. just wear leather, and you carry something like a Norewegian Rain Raincho with you. It wil go over everyhing, evem you bag, in a pinch:

Normally we have 100 days of consecutive Rain from sept to dec. This january we have had over 500 mm of Rain (Normally we have 2000 mm in a year). There is no need to carry a raincho, just wear something waterproof from sept to april. And most of summer as well.

As Norwegian Rain is from Bergen i have been thinking about buying one of their new m65 parkas, but I find them really expensive. But again a good rain coat is a sound investment piece here.

Yeah, I remember that it rains something like 250 days of the year! One of the most beautiful places I've ever lived though, and living a third of the way up one of the mountains meant that my cardio was off the charts when I went back home to Canada after a summer in Norway. I ran a pretty easy sub 18 minute 5K when I got back. Sadly, the effects of the constant altitude training and hill running wore off quickly, in under a season of road races.

Norwegian Rain really works. Honestly, for the few months that I lived there, in the summer, I wore normal clothes, (non-waterproof), aand just carried a poncho in my bag for the inevitability of the rain. It seemed nicer than just wearing a Goretex jacket all the time.

@dieworkwear, I just read the most recent piece, "Things I'm Excited About." Curious if you've come across more pics of black tassels being worn casually? I've been thinking about either black penny loafers or black tassels, but not sure how I'd wear them in my casual work environment.

I recently bought a pair of black suede tassel loafers and I'm finding then really fun to wear. Good with trousers at work but also with black jeans and a turtleneck in the evening. I think the black suede gives off less of an old man vibe than a classic smooth calf (which I do like as well)

I don’t think I’d want a full suit but could probably be sold on it

the problem is you want the jacket to be a bit more donegal-ly than the pants if you’re going to break them up

a little wilder jacket is more interesting but wild pants aren’t so useful
