Peter Zottolo posted this coat once on Twitter and I've been trying to find it ever since. However, it's sold out in the EU and nobody has it on Ebay/Vinted. This is probably a longshot (and most definitely overoptimistic) but is anybody planning to to sell theirs, preferably someone who bought this on sale in size L? Probably not the right thread to post but there's no dedicated PRL thread as far as I know; at least, I didn't find one while googling.

"mediocre bespoke" is a hell of an oxymoron
J's got rather a impressive talent for being a grating dingleberry, but can't say he's necessarily wrong here. Not to say either of the named tailors ought qualify as such, but "bespoke" is certainly not a guarantee of superb craftmanship/attention to detail/fit/etc.

When lived In Ecuador around 50 years ago everything was, more or less, bespoke,
except for imported RTW. I had a suit made and gave the tailor a BB sport
coat to copy. What resulted was below "mediore bespoke" When I returned
home, my dad, who had fairly refined taste, said I looked like a mid-level East
Bloc apparatchik in it.

Highly flammable cloth with an unnatural sheen to it?

Almost had it. It’s quality, craftsmanship, and tradition. You’re not allowed to say anything else but that when mentioning bespoke

I can't say I agree. Surely it's possible for some craftsmen to be better than others. And I imagine no one denies that certain English tailors will turn out a better suit than, say, a local snip in Kazakhstan.

A lot of examples as bespoke went wrong. Not necessarily bespoke is superior to ready to wear or made to measure, many factors involved for the overall quality. The only factor in which it definitely should be superior is the fit, which should be ideal for the customer. But also here there are a lot of bad outcomes.

True, bespoke is not a guarantee of better quality. Much depends on the tailor, his knowledge of you/your family as a customer, and whether the firm itself has kept up with craftsmanship or is just trading on reputation or marketing.

To compare, I think there are a few areas in which handmade clothes will be better - shoulder attachments, for instance, or any area which is exposed to high stress during movement or where the cut needs to follow the contours of the body exactly (like around the neck and shoulders). But every tailor has their idea of 'perfect fit,' and what might be perfection to the little tailor in Naples might be an abomination elsewhere. I recall a thread on the London Lounge where a photo was posted of a Rubinacci jacket that just looked awful.

I do think that there is a hierarchy of tailoring, much like there is a hierarchy to everything else. The trick is finding out what, exactly, that is, and here one can only be guided by one's knowledge of and exposure to quality. It's perfectly possible that a tailor who never advertises and whose name may be almost forgotten will make better clothes than the big firm who charges $10,000 for the suit and employs mediocre craftsmen to make it, but that could be an expensive lesson either way. So yes, no easy answers here.

I remember years ago, Foo posed a DB bespoke Rubinnaci suit. It looked fvcking terrible looking but Foo kept defending it.
