Hi all, another case of someone that owns Achilles in both 42 & 43 and neither fit as well as they could (true US10). I however tried on some Bballs in 42 in the past and they seemed to fit quite well (it is well documented that some of these versions run particularly large). So, my question is, are there any particular Achilles models that seem to run large? Or small for that matter. Would appreciate the model code so I can identify / hunt. Cheers

What about the size 42 and 43 that didn't work out for you? Was it width?

yeah 42 just feels too tight on the forefoot, particularly after a long / warm day. 43 feels perfect width wise, it's just fractionally too long and i get a tad of heel slip (strangely on my left foot only, i assume it is marginally smaller)

Exactly my issue

Y'all should be wearing 43 and breaking them in. These don't sound like problems y'all would have after 5 wears.
would have thought if they're feeling fractionally too big out of the box they're only going to get bigger over time.. that's been my experience, at least.
anyway, might just sell all my achilles and opt for the bball. i just prefer the silhouette of the former, particularly for work

I have worn various pairs of Achilles over the last 15 years. They mold to your feet. They do not get larger in size.

I can agree with this. I wear a 41 which also fits perfect in width and long in length compared to a pair of 40s which are still tight after 4 years.

my suede achilles in 43 have definitely stretched out over time. i now tie the laces markedly tighter than when i bought them a few years ago

Just get retros. If Achilles don't fit your feet, but you still want that silhouette, then I feel like this is exactly what Retros are for. And they do make them in all white without the contrast heel tab.

I guess the Achilles retros are wider, so maybe try those, but IMO Achilles in 43 is the right size for you.

The break in effects for any shoe include the footbed compressing, the upper leather stretching and conforming to your feet, and the heel pads breaking in. All of those would lead to a better fit over time for your foot.

I'm between two sizes (40 and 41) in CPs. Wear US 7,5 in 1970s Converses and US 8 in Nike AF1. My experience with different models.

Original achilles low: sz 40 fits a bit too narrow and 41 are just too long. I prefer 40 but there's better fitting models available for me.

Original achilles mid: sz 40 fits ok. I don't wear mids anymore though.

Premium achilles lows: sz 40. Slightly less narrow than original achilles low. Fits fine and aren't too long.

Premium full-grain achilles high: sz 40. Slightly less narrow than original achilles low. Fits fine and aren't too long.

Super achilles low from ss17: sz 40. Fits fine.

Nubuck bballs from ss19: sz 41. Fits fine. Smaller than original achilles lows.

Suede achilles lows: sz 41. Slightly smaller than original achilles lows.

Retros: sz 40. Fits fine. Sold these.

If the Bball model number starts with a 2 then same size as Achilles. If it starts with a 1 then size down.

So you should get the same size.
